Vivas has suspect defense and not enough bat to make up for that… Since when do the Yankees care about defense, lol. How hard would it have been to get the guy into one game so he became a major leaguer? Just let him pinch run once…

Vivas has suspect defense and not enough bat to make up for that… I've got no opinion on the guy as a player...just an observation that someone in the organization must have liked him. He’s likable enough. Speed. Patience. He’s got enough skills to play a long time. Defense? He can keep working on that and be a solid starter someplace. Maybe even in NY, or be a decent back up piece…

The Tuesday farm report from Tom Kosensky. Two of the games are playoffs while Scranton is still playing in their regular season. I forgot that when I posted that yesterday that the season was over. Vivas, Rice and Gonzalez homer in Scranton's win. They are tied for first with 5 to go. Jones clobbers one, while Bailey Dees goes 6.2 strong innings in Somerset's playoff victory. They are up 1-0. Omar Martinez's tie breaking grand slam seals the win for Hudson Valley. They are tied 1-1. tomkosensky.com/2024/09/17/yankees-milb-9-17-spencer-jones-homers-collects-3-hits/

Beeter could be called up to replace Cousins, but I agree with Tom Kosensky and think it will be Cody Poteet.

Poteet can pitch multiple innings but Beeter could be an option as a post season reliever but we would have to see if he can get big league hitters out. Of course, he needs the chance to do that.

He's too good for AAA, but will he get another chance at the big league level with the Yanks or does he need to switch organizations?

We’ll find out this winter…We’d be foolish to deal LH pop at 1B-BUC…a third catcher won’t hurt…

I've heard some rumors that Anthony Rizzo is looking for a 2 year deal and the Yankees have some interest. I hope not, he's been a great pro but don't want to see him turn into DJL II in pinstripes. Time to move on. Not sure if Rice is the answer or not. I think the early HR success may have been more harmful than good. In the Milb, he had a reputation as a contact guy but at MLB level, particularly after the HR barrage we saw a lot of swing and miss. One thing he has going for him is he will be cheap and that could be important if we retain Cole and sign Soto. I'd hate to see him handed the job without a realistic backup plan.

I'd be very surprised if Yanks re-signed Rizzo. Much will depend on what Rice does during Spring Training. Regardless, there still needs to be a legit backup. Cabrera can handle the job defensively, but it'd mean he'd hit from his weak side (RH). Also, like it or not, DJ will still be on the roster for another 2 years.
