We saw history tonight and neither pitcher will get a decision. I'm more amazed that it never happened before. And that they can retrieve that information so quickly. I wish I had a job like that when I was younger, crunching baseball stats. |

Andujar got the error because he was closer to the ball than Gardner. He should’ve caught it and not worried about Gardner calling for it. The ball was in Gardner's glove and Andujar caused him to drop it, due to his poor instincts. He can't play the OF or the infield and he can't hit. The only reason he's here is because the Yankees feel Florial and no one else is good enough. If the ball was in Gardner’s glove, then it’s Gardy’s error. Both were in position to catch the ball; that was the problem. I saw nothing Andujar did that wasn’t instinctual. Just because Andujar is learning the position doesn’t mean every play is necessarily Miggy’s fault. Not every play unmade requires a scapegoat. This was one of those plays. The more they play next to each other, the easier that play will be defined between them. |
