Stanton and Torres both out makes sense since the Yankees lead their division by 10 games. Are they deliberately throwing games? Stanton worn out after his two consecutive games played? This is blatantly irrational unless Stanton and Torres are injured. Maybe they just assume that with Glasnow pitching they're going to lose anyway. It stopped making sense a long time ago. The resting policy is so radical that it must be coming from the front office. Kay stated that nothing is wrong with either, just a “regular day off.” Abject lunacy.

No way does Torres make that play. Maybe we have our new SS... He's not a good defensive player, according to the same type of people that think all these rest days make sense.

If the Yanks could field a routine groundball this would have been a 1-2-3 inning, instead the game is probably already over.

I don't completely write them off either, Anthony. Which in itself is kind of an indictment of MLB as a whole. We follow the Yanks on a daily basis and can see they are a deeply flawed team with abysmal fundamentals. And yet they still have a winning record. Many other teams, almost inexplicably, are doing worse. I do think the gap between what the Yankees are doing and what they were expected to do may be the largest in baseball, at least on the negative side. Since I’ve been watching a lot of Cubs games, I can attest that the defensive gaffs, Benny Hill base-running, inability to bunt, and lack of hitting with RISP are Yankees’ traits, not MLB. Also, both of their catchers are much better than Sanchez defensively. Not close.

Why not just drill Meadows in the butt and put him on first a couple times?

Of course the last two Yankee hitters just missed HR's. That's the way this season has gone.

Ford strikes out. Looks annoyed by it like usual.
