Stanton and Torres both out makes sense since the Yankees lead their division by 10 games.

Stanton and Torres both out makes sense since the Yankees lead their division by 10 games. Are they deliberately throwing games? Stanton worn out after his two consecutive games played? This is blatantly irrational unless Stanton and Torres are injured. Maybe they just assume that with Glasnow pitching they're going to lose anyway. It stopped making sense a long time ago. The resting policy is so radical that it must be coming from the front office.

On the other hand-- Tampa's run of 16 out of 17 should not be sustainable. No team is that good. They are due for a course correction. It has to start somewhere. Maybe tonight when we least expect it.
I certainly don't expect it!

Maybe tonight when we least expect it. I certainly don't expect it! Thats why I'm not 100% writing off this season yet. The Yankees got close to the top of the standings by winning multiple series and not some 10 game winning streak or something. So I feel the Yankees could be more consistent than the Rays or the Red Sox long term. Since both of those teams if you take away their big winning streak they are about the same record as the Yankees. The problem I have with the Yankees is decisions like today. Stanton has barely played since being off the DL. Yet you sit him. Torres is also sitting. The games in Detroit Fridays looked like a win, but winds up being a loss. What do you do in return? You sit multiple starters. How are you supposed to win these games if you default to sitting guys and having AAA starters in May? There is no reason Taillon couldn't have started on Sunday. Play the good players and stop with the Mike Ford's of the world. BTW they just said on Kay's show that DEgrom has more hits than Ford 9 to 8 and the same amount of RBI as Brett Gardner 3.

Important game against a division rival in midst of a slump and you sit Gleyber and Stanton? Effing Ridiculous! Whose making these stupid decisions?

I don't completely write them off either, Anthony. Which in itself is kind of an indictment of MLB as a whole. We follow the Yanks on a daily basis and can see they are a deeply flawed team with abysmal fundamentals. And yet they still have a winning record.
Many other teams, almost inexplicably, are doing worse. I do think the gap between what the Yankees are doing and what they were expected to do may be the largest in baseball, at least on the negative side.

They tell us Stanton needs to get his ABs to get his timing back after the injury. He's been back five days and benched for two of them. They have two off days next week where he can rest his weary carcass. So his job is part-time DH? That's what they are paying for? Again, I blame management, not him.

That is the thing they've lost something like 8 series clinching games because they sat a bunch of people in this games. This team is that talented that all 8 of those could have been turned into sweeps but instead they played the lesser players which lead to more errors bad baserunning etc. If they just not tried to mess with things so much they probably would be leading the division right now.

I'm sure glad I'm not paying to watch these games in person, I feel dumb enough that I wasted my money on the extra innings package.

The players in the Yankees lineup today are 10 for 67 (.149) vs. Glasnow. But never fear, Ford has a home run against him. That’s the only one we have in the line up...
