There's been so much talk in recent years about how overrated batting average is, it's becoming underrated, especially when half the line up is under .200. It was never overrated with me, simply because in my mind the object of the bat is to hit the ball, and how often a player does that safely is, guess what, batting average. |

getting swept by Detroit was not good. I think we need a new business model.
1) Pay attention to the liklihood of players being hurt (look at their physique and history of injuries).
2) Look for people who can bat .250. Forget OBP and Home Runs.
Not that we will. We hired two pitchers again this year who were hurt and amazingly they got hurt.
