Sandwich with four strikeouts, yet gets another start over Higashioka. Higgy hasn’t struck out more than twice since 2019 and has only struck out three times on three occasions since 2017 (all three times in 2019). I hear ya rizz. Problem is Higgy hasnt had a hit in about a month.

Gittens used to be a pitcher, too, with a pretty good arm: viewsfrom314ft.com/prospect-profile-chris-gittens/“80-grade raw power. That’s the main thing you need to know about Gittens. We’re talking about Aaron Judge/Giancarlo Stanton-like exit velocities that push 120 MPH. Per FanGraphs, Gittens led the minors in average exit velocity in 2019 at 96 MPH.” “Gittens became a minor league free agent after 2020, and in spite of arguably better opportunities elsewhere, he returned to the Yankees.” Gittens's decision to return to the Yankees is about to pay off with a chance at the major league level, albeit a month later than it should have been. I hope he makes the most of it. Indeed. He certainly should have the same opportunities Ford, Odor, and Bruce had. He served his time without even a cup of coffee. After a breakout year in 2019, he had the misfortune to have 2020 cancelled.

Problem is Higgy hasnt had a hit in about a month. Higgy has only had 14 plate appearances since May 25 (3 hits), but he’s much better defensively and calls a better game. Sandwich has had 30 plate appearances since May 25 (7 hits), so he hasn’t been much better than Higashioka with the bat and he strikes out more frequently. If I’m a pitcher, I’d prefer Higgy catching. And, Higgy doesn’t require a double behind him to score from third.

Since starting the year 0 for 13, Miguel Andujar is hitting .297/.297/.453/.750. Of course, after hitting 3 homers in his last 4 games, Boone gave Miggy a day off yesterday.

I really didn’t get to see Judge in CF the last time. How did he look out there? … He made a couple routine plays but really wasn't tested. Gardner was inserted later in the game at CF for defense and Judge moved to RF.

“My dad told me in 2014 when I got drafted, 'I'm not coming to see you play until you make it to the big leagues,'" Gittens said. "My mom came to games, but he said that he knew that I could make it to the big leagues. It was a lot of motivation, a little push for me to get where I am right now." Both his parents will be in attendance at the game tonight! His dad will see him for the first time in a professional game. Really happy for him!
