Well, I missed most of the game. On my way to the grocery store to get provisions for supper (Foie gras, octopus, calamari steaks...just joking, Inger, the list was much more pedestrian), a woman turned against the traffic and tore the front bumper off my car (it was actually Sarah’s car, which makes it even more disappointing). Of course, she accuses me of being at fault, despite my having the green light and the right of way going straight ahead. After waiting for four hours for the police (who never showed up), she finally agreed to exchange information. A bad day at black rock.

Guess Kriske doesn't know about the foreign substance thingy. He has a completely domestic substance policy. I suspect Crisco… “Get low spin rate Crisco, today-ay-ay”. It’s quite the mystery that there are also pitches that benefit from the low spin rate. Obviously the knuckleball. Notoriously, the old time spitball that required saliva, Vaseline, slippery elm, etc.. It’s hard to understand how the spitball rule doesn’t simply take care of this through strict enforcement. No substances shall be applied to the ball. Starting today. NO substance. Stop… Too bad we can’t put a governor on launch angle, too. Too many pops and grounders in between the long balls… too many misses in the swings… |

I got a very loud horn blow that sounded like it was inside my car today while I was doing a legal u-turn at a red light today. I had the light, nothing else was allowed to move except that which I was fully aware of, and suddenly someone is blaring a horn. I looked for the offended party and they had apparently zoomed off somewhere else to continue reading their cell phone and ignore traffic rules. So, but for a bit of luck, I might have had similar misfortune today. To make it a bit hairier I was in an unfamiliar vehicle, having decided to test drive a Hummer. I’m not going to buy it. It wasn’t well-kempt and it had a suspicious “clunk” in the rear end that recurred a half dozen times on a thirty minute drive… loud clunk… slow left hand cornering on a paved road kind of THUNK! Just think. We’ve allowed 10 runs in two days and win both games. Playing Minnesota is like playing in an alternate dimension.
