Prob the most annoyed I've seen Boone in a press conference. Boone can stick that annoyance schtick you-know-where. He has done nothing to fix a broken club. I think he lacks the balls to begin fines or other censure for bad play. Don't tell me that doesn't still work. Cashman should be replaced now. A new GM should use the trade period to remake this roster, and complete the work over the winter. Hire a new manager who may not be a former player, and wants to be one of the guys.

I’m afraid the collective bargaining agreement wouldn’t allow fines of players for poor play. There used to be a kangaroo court that the veteran players ran, but it was used more as comic relief and holding players accountable to teammates through camaraderie.

I think the kangaroo courts were only held after wins to assure a light mood… the “fines” as such were very light and would go into a Kitty for a team party. Before the players gained power the managers could indeed levy fines for crimes like not hustling, or failing to advance a runner, but not for poor play in general…

There is plenty of blame to go around. Several years ago we thought we had 3 potential MVP candidates in Sanchez, Torres and Judge. That hasn’t worked out at all. Then we assumed a huge forever contract for an often injured DH who can’t even participate when we play a national league team. We have assembled a collection of mis-matched parts that don’t seem to play with any energy. It seems there is no one in our minor league system that is near major league ready. We can’t fire one half the team and start over. Good luck figuring this out Cashman because this team as it presently exists is a long way from competing for a championship.

I found it mildly amusing today that the Phillies announcing team was comparing Torres to Ozzie Smith because of the plays he made this weekend. They said “Where are all these problems he’s supposed to have”? If they only knew…

Any team that makes the playoffs can win a championship. The Yankees still are fine in the playoffs contention standings. They should match up ok in a 5 game series with Cole German and Montgomery or Kluber. Judge is on pace for roughly 290 40 hr and 100 rbi. Fault the other two though no problem there but leave judge out of it.

Judge was one of them. I should not have implied that he has been a failure. I am well aware of his statistics.

Suddenly, Sanchez is hitting. You have to wonder how long it can last and you have to fear how cold he might get when he does slow down…

Don't worry guys! Surely this is the bottom! Nowhere to go but up from here! I don't think the bottom is in yet. Maybe a bottom by late September. To think this is a bottom, one would have to think the Yankees will play at or above .500 the rest of the way. I see the Rays, RS, and Jays making trade deadline deals that help them. The Yankees should be sellers this year if they are smart, and build for next year through the winter. that would be smart, but this is todays Yankees, so they probably won't.

I understand the angst of this season’s near team-wide underperformance, but let’s not slip too far off the deep end. The talent in the organization is greater than one prospect who has not played a minor league game, which is another story....why the hell not? This team has had three runs to this point: 5-10, 23-9, 5-13. The old adage of you are never as bad as you are during a cold streak or as good as you are in a hot streak is a truism in baseball. This is a talented, yet flawed team. No one really knew Garrett Whitlock until the unprotected rule-five Yankee draft casualty emerged as the lynch pen in the Red Sox relief corps.
