Good. He doesn’t go to any of our rivals. Well, he was reported as wanting the West Coast. The Padres are loaded. Hold on !

Here's how the big boys handle the trade deadline, putting Cashman and the Yankees to shame.

Here's how the big boys handle the trade deadline, putting Cashman and the Yankees to shame. It helps when you aren't afraid of the luxury tax. Like the Yankees operated in days of yore.

If the Dodgers wind up with Scherzer, imagine a rotation of Scherzer, Buehler, Kershaw, Gonsolin and Bauer if he gets back. Price and Urias in reserve. Phew.

Save some pitchers for the rest of us!

If I recall though, the 1954 Indians won 111 games in a 154 game season, went into the World Series with 4 outstanding starters (they may have each won 20 games that year), and got swept in the World Series. You never know.

You never know. Hey BillyBones, love the old school references. Yep, 111 wins for the Tribe that year. Early Wynn and Bob Lemon each won 23, Mike Garcia 19, Art Houtteman 15 and a nearly-finished Bob Feller 13. Also contributions from Hal Newhouser, Ray Narleski and Don Mossi. The Yankees had won five straight championships before that. Ironically their 103 wins in 1954 was the most for any Casey Stengel team but was only good for second place. In the 16 seasons 1949-1964, the Yankees won the AL pennant 14 times. The only two years they failed- 54 Indians and 59 White Sox-- the manager they lost out to was Al Lopez.
