Glad I fell asleep with the game well under control. It's much easier to take this stuff when you read about it after the fact.
Every day, in every way, we are getting better and better.

Even in 08, 13, 14, and 16 it just didn't feel like this.. The problem with most of those teams was they had aging veterans and no true ace. Tanaka was good, but he's not Gerit Cole. CC was starting to deteriorate in those years. The offense on those teams usually was good enough though none of them made it to 700 runs on a season. It was just too many rental and aging players. That isn't the case here. This team doesn't have the Overbay's or Hafner's etc. There's legit talent on this team and they aren't 40. Boone treats them like they are.

I'm glad I went to bed after Chapman's second walk, I couldn't take it anymore, plus I was really tired. Just when you think this team has reached a new low, outscored 9-1 after taking a 7-2 lead in the first. At least Judge and Geo will be well rested for today's game, if they even play it.

Your local entry out there also blew it after scoring seven runs in the first, which is the first time ever two teams on the same day scored that many runs in the first inning and still lost. Are Cubs fans howling about Schwarber's home run spree with the Nats? Or is it lost in the debris with so many other bad things going on in Wrigleyville?

Did this group just get comfortable when they were in two ALCS now and a game away from two WS? You'd think they'd be motivated to get back to that spot and over the hump, but now theyre 33-27 in 2020 and 41-40 in 2021. This group was hungry in 17 through 19.

The Angels even were able to beat us up after losing their DH in the game after one AB. The problem however, is that our closer is really off. If Chappy had his stuff together we win that game. It seems we go from one problem to another as the season rolls along…

There seems to be no consequences for underperforming or for stupid play. Plus the front office to this point appears convinced that it has put together a championship caliber team that will eventually play at the highest levels if they just keep rolling the same people out there.

Boone talks about the season being on the line and then gives nap time for Judge and Urshela. But still it should be clear that this group as a whole, no matter how you shuffle the deck, is not championship material.

Yeah. I agree with your main point. This seems to be a poorly constructed team and they just play bad baseball. Boone's "rest policy" just exacerbates the issues imo.

I still feel like with how streaky they are and Cole starting 2-3 games in a series if they make the playoffs they could still have a shot at it. It seems to be all about being hot at the right time lately.

Probably for the best to be rained out. More rest!! Plus Monty, who right now is the number two starter, can pitch against the Mets, along with Cole.
