Probably for the best to be rained out. More rest!! Plus Monty, who right now is the number two starter, can pitch against the Mets, along with Cole. Maybe I’ll get a bit of yard work done today…

Did this group just get comfortable when they were in two ALCS now and a game away from two WS? You'd think they'd be motivated to get back to that spot and over the hump, but now theyre 33-27 in 2020 and 41-40 in 2021. This group was hungry in 17 through 19. There seems to be no consequences for underperforming or for stupid play. Plus the front office to this point appears convinced that it has put together a championship caliber team that will eventually play at the highest levels if they just keep rolling the same people out there. Agree Pipps, I especially thought of it as the Cubs last week pulled Javy Baez, their star SS and leader, mid-game bc he made a base-running blunder. With the Yankees it's an oh shucks, get em next time feel. There's no doubt earlier in the year Sanchez and Torres should have been pulled mid-game and taught a lesson, especially when things happen repeatedly.

There's no doubt earlier in the year Sanchez and Torres should have been pulled mid-game and taught a lesson, especially when things happen repeatedly. Yes, I watched that game. Baez took off on contact, thinking there were two outs. Except, there was only one out and he was doubled up, ending the inning. Ross removed him for the rest of the game. Boone would have never done that, unless it was the fifth inning and a pitcher other than Cole. With the bulk of major league rosters set aside for pitchers now - because there are maybe ten legitimate starting pitchers in MLB - there are fewer bench players than ever before. Still, it’s possible to exercise these kind of consequences game to game, if not for the mandatory pre-scheduled rest days for position players, irrespective of their health or performance. There are only 13 position players on the roster; it should be rather easy to determine which of them requires a day off without a freaking predetermined schedule.

Knowing the weaselly nature of this management, it would not surprise me if they are taking advantage of the “possible rain out” by declaring it postponed early. In so doing, they artificially distance themselves from possibly the franchise’s worst loss in decades, they rest an already taxed bullpen, they put themselves in a position to take advantage of a seven-inning double header, in which a four-inning start is quite enough, and they do not have to answer questions today.

From anything I have been able to determine, there had been no rain at all until at least 3:30, so yes they did call the game early and most likely for the reasons you cited. Weasels for sure. They may finally pack the Stadium this weekend because of playing the Mets, but I wouldn't be shocked if half the crowd were Mets fans.

An article today said that GS was alive Boone and Cashman would have been fired after the last game. Probably so. They need to fire the players, but there is no way to do that. It is hard to believe they can play this bad if they are trying.

One would think, as long as New York City was on lockdown and once those restrictions were lifted, Yankee Stadium would have to turn away fans. In the nine home games since restrictions were lifted, the largest crowd at Yankee Stadium was last night's debacle, which brought in roughly 30,800 (capacity is over 54,000.) When the Yankees played two games in Philly three weeks ago, there were over 38,000 at each game. Yes, a lot of them were Yankee fans. But they aren't showing up in The House That Hal Inherited. There is definitely a message there. Sure, there will be good crowds this weekend and maybe when they play Boston, but clearly the faithful don't see much reason to pay the exorbitant prices they have always been willing to pay for a good product.

Sadly, disciplining baseball players is about as common as spanking children… Frustrating part is this same group showed they're more than capable the last few years. Something is up and it stinks. There is no reason they should be playing this bad. What did they lose from last year Tanaka and Happ? Happ isn't any better than who is in the rotation now. Tanaka is obv a big loss, because then King or Taillions spot wouldn't be needed. Even though they didn't make the ALCS last year they lost game 5 2-1 and I feel if they won that game they had a good shot to finally take down the Astros because they would have had home field. So if you go by who is on the team now vs then it really shouldn't be this much of a difference. Where did all this bad fielding and bonehead baserunning come from?

Why should the fans spend fortunes to come to Yankee stadium to a team playing this badly.
To answer anthony's questions is hard to believe they are trying although age may be a factor in LMH case.

It is the whole season, including defense that matters. Not one portion of it.
Why throw out april and may.
