Eligible for the Draft last year, he didn’t go in the top five rounds, enabling him to return and serve as Stanford’s Friday night starter in 2021. Not sure why they drafted him, I believe there were better pitcher's available before him. It's all a crap shoot anyways but..... Saving $ I bet for HS kids later on like their 3rd rd pick.

Theyre never the scouting guru's favorite, probably for good reason.

Good Grief. Seriously, what is happening (and has happened) to the Yankees? Of course it's a crap shoot, but the Yankees have been outshot so consistently that why should we expect this group to be any better. I couldn't believe the Yanks didn't take the best pitcher still on the board in the first round. This organization is looking clownish to serious fans like myself. Someone make it stop.

I discovered a Dick Wantz in BR a few days ago. Sadly I discovered also that shortly after his first and only MLB appearance in 1965 as a relief pitcher it was discovered that he had a brain tumor that would kill him within a month. A bit strange that I recall nothing about that tragic death. I was deeply invested in the entire baseball world in 1965 as an eleven year old. I knew other deaths from the time period, Jim Umbricht, Ken Hubbs, later Danny Frisella and on and on… www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/wantzdi01.shtml
