Thurman Munson and Lou Pinella shaped the way I hit and my philosophy of hitting to this day.

They're showing "Sweet Lou" highlights from his managing days.

I didn't get to see the first two games on account of I was in bed, but seeing this park reminds me of what an awful place the Kingdome was. Ick. Oh the Kingdome was the worst. Almost as bad as the Trop Dump. I agree it wasn't as bad as the Trop or even the Hump in Minnesota. Even though I didn't especially like it, I gave the Astrodome a bit of a pass for its novelty value. I have a fond recollection of listening on the radio to a preseason game where Mickey Mantle hit the first-ever home run at the Astrodome. What a great baptism. There used to be a Division III football game called the Boardwalk Bowl played in the Atlantic City Convention Center. It seemed like CW Post was in it when I watched. If your punter had too much lift he could clank one off the rafters.

They're showing "Sweet Lou" highlights from his managing days. Wasn't that fun? Are we really in a better world? Lou played with fire, but he was very heady. He could credibly call out players for their mental errors because he rarely made them himself.

They called him Sweet Lou because of his sweet swing, but I like to pretend it was because of his personality as a manager.

Gilbert has the Yankees in a trance. Time to wake up boys.

JP Crawford was supposed to be the next Derek Jeter when he was coming up through the Phillies system. He's doing well this year, but he's not HOF material by a long shot.

Not a good AB for our new hero Locastro.

Thurman Munson and Lou Pinella shaped the way I hit and my philosophy of hitting to this day. What is your philosophy of hitting? Do tell. Quiet lower half, balanced throughout the swing, level through the zone, hands inside the baseball, right field first and use the whole field, hit the ball where it’s pitched in the zone, two-strike approach means choking up, strikeouts have no value, think with your hands not your swing, practice in the cage and compete in the game.

Batting 101. Way to boil it down.
