We didn't need Cole for this one. If he just misses one turn, as should be the case, this could turn out to be a blessing.

So you believe the colonization of North and South America came before Ancient Greece? Umm. No… where are you getting that from? Just ragging on you. The term Hispanic commonly applies to countries with a cultural and historical link to the Spanish Empire following the Spanish colonization of the Americas. Spanish is a Romance language, evolved from Latin, in which double Ls are pronounced (as in modern Italian), rather than combined into a y sound like modern Spanish. Ancient Greek is centuries older than Latin. Achilles is from Greek Mythology and Homer wrote the Iliad in Ancient Greek. So, Achilles is pronounced like Tennessee Williams’ Stella in Street Car Named Desire, rather than tortilla. Achilles’ father would have had to drive the Deloreon from Back to the Future to pronounce his son’s name like the type of chips in a bag of Doritos.

My paisan Rizzo just keeps hitting! I realize it's way too early to assess it, but the early returns on Rizzo make him a candidate for best trade deadline pickup since Dave Justice. Bobby Abreu was a good one. Kerry Wood. Before Justice was David Cone. But what a start. And major likeability. Everybody likes a chatty first baseman.

The guys just don't want to throw the fastball when they should, especially with a 9 run lead.

Gill rebounds and finishes off Hayes to cap his night. What a shot in the arm for the Yanks.

Maybe all nights… My thoughts never even turned to the actual original Spanish of Spain, so to speak. I need to sharpen my knife to keep up with you, Rizz. “Wait a minute! You mean they speak Mexican in Spain? How in the hell did that happen”…

Gill rebounds and finishes off Hayes to cap his night. What a shot in the arm for the Yanks. Even more credit to Boone. He resisted his usual urge to make a pitching change after 4.2 regardless of game situation, then let the kid pitch with a runner on in the sixth. Is our little manager beginning to mature before our very eyes ?…

They have to keep starting Allen over Gardner. Even Boone must see it by now.
