The numbers cannot be 100% accurate when we all know Gleyber should have approximately double the number of errors that he currently has. Errors are much easier for me to assign than good or great jumps, or fair versus good angles on slicing line drives, or zone ratings on slow to medium to fast infields on varying exit velocities and spin off the bat. Absolutely true. I believe the error to be the weakest point in the formulas because you have the home town scorer affect. The one thing that does remain on the player’s record statistically is that the play is not made, which means of course that there is no assist awarded. Gleyber’s most glaring deficiency to me is that his DP count. He has less than half of the number of the MLB leader (Baez, I think). Analytics of strike outs, FB/W ratio of pitchers aside a 50% deficiency is hard to explain away. You make such a good point about the errors of Torres. I think if MLB is going to hire people to watch hours and hours of slo motion replays, those people should be able to overturn calls by scorers in order to purify the input. In Torres case, he already owns a low fielding percentage. An additional 9-10 errors would bury him even deeper in the fielding stats… Can you imagine the subjectivity in watching ground ball outs for range factor across every stadium in all weather conditions from all manner of pitchers and pitches and hitters and contact? Then imagine the third one you’ve watched versus the 303rd versus the 903rd. How can you maintain objectivity from 3rd to 903rd even when perfectly wanting to do so? Impossible task, seemingly.

I love when they listen to me. Me too. You give the best advice. Score! Win! Get him! Stop them! Shut em down! … You have to keep it simple for these guys.

My instructions to Stanton -- break it open. Why didn’t you start making demands earlier in the season?

Should have been Stewart’s ball all the way. He quickly yielded to Mountcastle, who was technically an interference with Stewart’s ability to cover the ground. In the box score, Stanton hit a screaming double…
