In just 15 games, Greg Allen has accrued 0.5 WAR. In 8 games, Estevan Florial has accrued 0.3 WAR. In 90 games, Gardner has 0.3 WAR. Allen has 5 stolen bases. Florial has 1. Gardner has 1. I love what Allen has done. I also would be stunned if he produced anywhere near that level for an extended time. I’d have to view his B-R page, but I think he had one season where he produced close to this level in a medium sample (2016, 2017?). Once the pitchers caught on his numbers declined. It’s the old adjustment game. Nothing says Allen can’t grow, of course.. I understand what you are saying about Allen. Nothing in his history says he will perform well over an extended period of time. However he was performing well now and his speed and versatility seemed to bring a spark to the team. Why not give him a chance to fail before you send him down? |

He could have been this year's Cameron Maybin. |

It seems that the Yankees are hoping that Davis will give them what Allen and Florial were already giving them. Sure, we all want Davis to perform well, but Allen especially was already performing well. It has to be so discouraging for a guy who brought so much in such a short span to be sent back to Scranton for no compelling reason. This may be the truest sentence written since Ernest Hemingway.  It would have been better if it came after polishing off four bottles of Rioja, shooting a few Water Buffalo, getting into a fistfight and sleeping with an heiress married to a friend of mine. But thank you for such kind sentiments! |

It would have been better if it came after polishing off four bottles of Rioja, shooting a few Water Buffalo, getting into a fistfight and sleeping with an heiress married to a friend of mine.
