Did we gain a game on Toronto? I thought we were tied in the loss column before tonight, but they lost and the standings still show them tied. If we get into the play offs Tampa deserves a medal. They keep beating Boston and Toronto  |

Same here. Even the lowest of the back up infielders. The forgotten men in the bullpen… the third string catchers… the bonus babies that only got to play in blowouts… Now it’s a parade of young guys that are on their team’s shuttle. The 14th pitcher, only up for the weekend. The September call ups… Part of that is a function of how many more players are needed to get through a season than in our youth. The 1961 Yankees used 36 players. The 2021 Yankees have so far used 58 players. Multiply that disparity for each team -- and of course there are more teams -- and that's hundreds of additional names to remember. Baseball Digest went from a quick peruse to a tome… |

Relief pitchers did not pitching to 3 batters very often in 61 and fewer people got hurt. A incredible pitching of modern players causes lots of injuries I think.
