Could have been a worse night. I’ll take it. At least the mighty Blue Jays got shut out. Maybe that will get in their heads a bit…

I was informed on twitter that the tiebreaking rules changed in 2012. The head to head stuff is only for figuring out home field. So that def helps the Yankees chances I thought if the Yankees tied with the Red Sox or Blue Jays they were screwed, because of the bad head to head records, but no it would go to Game 163 in either Boston or Toronto. However, it would be a lot better if they just finished ahead of both teams.

I knew once the winning streak got up there, that a losing streak was coming. I didn't worry much and am still not. I think the team can pull it off. At least we have something to watch now.
Hope Judge keeps it up and hope pitching gets better.
Any word on our Star Pitcher who hasn't pitched in 2 years or so now? Severe-ino?

He was supposed to have thrown a bullpen session that day after throwing one late last week that Boone said "went well" as Boone always says. It's hard to imagine him returning this year. He's thrown a grand total of 12 innings in the past three years, so who knows if he is anything close to what he was.

Manager Aaron Boone said that Severino (shoulder) will face live hitters later this week, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports. Severino's Monday bullpen session figures to have gone well given that he's now progressing to facing hitters. Assuming he continues to progress without any setbacks, the right-hander could start a rehab assignment sometime within the next week, which would likely set him up to join the Yankees' bullpen before the end of the regular season.

I'd gladly take whatever we can get, but given Sevy's history of setbacks I would definitely take a wait and see approach about getting any useful production from him. But even one scoreless inning would be a step in the right direction.

Is that asking too much baseball gods?

Is that asking too much baseball gods? Sad to say it, but German is the more likely to pay quick dividends. Maybe Sevy still has that big fastball and a chip on his shoulder and continue to grow into an ace. Maybe. But we’re going to need to apply a lot of WD-40 and do some sharpening before we know what kind of weapon he can be…
