My guess is that Boone will if we don't make the play offs and Cashman won't. Because management is primarily interested in making money and making the play offs is not a super high priority. As I said on another thread there does not seem to be any sense of urgency on the shape of the team - which is a mess.

Yes, I think Boone will be fired if we don't make the playoffs. He should go no matter what. I think Cashman's job is safe though.

If management just hires someone who thinks like they do and Boone, will it really matter?

I have a feeling a lot of these managerial decisions are from upper management so if Boone really is that much of a puppet I can't see them getting rid of him.
Well technically either way he wouldn't be fired his contract is up so I guess its a clean break if they wanted it.

That would assume higher management actually pays attention to what happens in games. I think that is doubtful. Do you really think Cashman, let alone the owner, called up and said "Hey why don't you play Gallo second in the line up" or "put your worse pitchers in when it really matters" or "rest anyone who gets hot" I doubt it. I think the greater problem is ownership does not really care. I actually miss GS, something I never thought I would say.

To assume one or both will be fired is dependent on a lot of inside information that we’re not privy to. Does Boone work on orders from Cashman? Does Hal accept responsibility for not raising the budget to allow more flexibility?
I think Boone is in a similar position to what Girardi was in when the Yanks let him walk, and Girardi was in a similar position to Torre when the Yanks decided to make a change. That’s his biggest danger…

I am sure no one here knows. We are just guessing.

As we saw with both Joes before, it’s no less painful for the manager who is hoping to be asked back. But yes, from a business standpoint it is a clean break. In reality, Boone could also surprise by deciding not to return. He may not need the money, may want to spend time with family, or may want to springboard off this experience to a smaller, less pressured market…

Unfortunately, I don't think either will be gone. I've been a Cashman supporter over the years, but I think it's time for a change. The Yanks seem to think that a baseball bashing team is the way to go, but it is until you don't hit. This team played a lot better when Greg Allen and Valezquez were in the lineup because they played with enthusiasm and speed. When Tyler Wade played on a semi-regular basis he got hot, but then he got benched. Now, we got three infielders playing out of position and the defense hasn't gotten any better. I hope the Yanks get hot and prove me wrong, but I think it's time for an overhaul. Just don't think it'll happen.

Ruth and Gehrig were an amazing pair, but without the other amazing players on the team getting on base and making plays in the field the team wouldn’t have been nearly as accomplished. Of course Yankee pitching ranked well, too. I don’t think it was as good as the numbers looked. After all, they never had to face the Yankees… 🤓
