Yeoman's work by all of our pitchers today!
And also some sparkling defensive plays led by Urshela's dive into the dugout! What a play!
Also Gleyber and Odor made some nice plays.

Obviously annoyed its not at home, but if you are the Red Sox you went from having like an 8 game lead in the division to this. Yankees never had a realistic chance at the division.

I needed that win! Amazing how the fortunes of a kids’ game can influence my mood. My reactions to the Yankees' fortunes have barely changed since I was seven years old. I have conquered the urge to throw things in the interval and I have a wee bit more perspective-- not a lot, but a smidgen -- but shamefully it's pretty much the same now as when Mantle and Ford and Berra walked the Earth. I just conceal it better.

That play by Gio was off the charts. Jeterian even.

You’re discounting any failed bunt attempt, including the ones that wind up being double plays. You’re also discounting the possibility of the two out extra base hits, especially the home runs. Of course we’ve had this conversation about 3,426 times with you, but you pretend not to remember it… and continue to be the only supporter of bunting. The bunt is a weapon with limited use that can have efficacy in select situations. It is not to be used constantly within the context of the way the game has been played for the past 70 or so years… You are right that I think bunting matters when you can't hit anyway. Which describes most of our team. Which is not what I said, but an interesting twist on my words. With Voit, DJ, and Urshela healthy from day one (and maybe even Hicks), this team would have produced far better than it has. It’s also likely we would have never picked up Odor, Rizzo, nor Gallo, and that Gardner’s role would have been cut in half…

Losing LMH and Voit to an already think group of hitter is rough. Our pitching is going to have to be anwesome LMH at any less than 100% isn't very productive. Voit could still run into one, but LMH isn't going to be a consistent hitter like he usually is if he cant turn his body straight.

We should bring up andujar as a pinch hitter lol Seriously who will replace them

It raises the question of who is our backup first baseman without Voit or DJ. Other than that period when Rizzo was on the Covid IL, Voit didn't contribute all that much. I'd still rather have him -- as you say he could always run into one -- but for most of the past six weeks or so he hasn't done much. Not entirely his fault of course. The Yankees mismanaged his playing time after Rizzo was on board.
