Brett Gardner is exactly 18 days older than Jacoby Ellsbury. Although it seemed to me that he's been gone longer, Ellsbury last played in 2017.

I appreciate what Gardner has done for the Yankees. He is the living embodiment of the phrase: "the best ability is availability". But my Lord can we not come up with a better alternative?? Please don't say Gallo or Hicks. I'd still try to sign Marte and let Gallo ease on down the road. The only thing that concerns me about Marte is his age but he steals bases, plays good defense, has a high on base percentage and doesn't strike out very much. Then there is America's prospect, Florial.

In full disclosure, I was a proponent of signing Jacoby Ellsbury, deleting him from the Red Sox lineup while adding a true lead-off hitter with speed and base-stealing acumen, solid defense and a left-handed swing that would play up power-wise in Yankee Stadium. In retrospect, one of the worst free agency decisions the Yankees ever made. A low point in my prognostication history, unless you count that I advocated for signing Mike Hampton.

Well since we're in confessional mode, I thought the Yankees were idiots for trading Roberto Kelly for Paul O'Neill. And I was ecstatic when they got Jeff Weaver.

Oh, and I was not as truculent as Frank Costanza in asking "why did you trade Jay Buhner?"

Jeff Weaver was fool’s gold for me as well. It should have been a good pickup. I shared an apartment with a Cincinnati Reds fanatic, who loved Paul O’Neill, so I was less dubious about the trade than I might have been. We used to argue about who was the best player in baseball: Don Mattingly or Eric Davis.

I had a good enough seat and was paying enough attention to see the incredible movement he had on his pitches. I wasn't aware of what a headcase he was, although he looked like such a stoner I should have guessed. And the correct answer of course was Mattingly. Nobody ever said "Eric Baseball." But he had amazing talent, no question.

STUPID--STUPID--STUPID; so damn STUPID!!!
I finally understand the way the Yankees Mgt. thinks while wearing their Tin-Foil Hats:
If a Prospect starts hitting & playing well = Send Back To Minors (see articles below).
AND then at Season's End put THEM on Waivers...
KEEP IN MIND: They were YOUNG--High Energy--Fast--Switch Hitters--CHEAP...But apparently the YANKS likes FAS that are COSTLY that they can sign to 5-year Plus Contracts.
ONCE AGAIN = Why the Yankees will not be going to the WS anytime soon. WHY??? IT IS THEIR MENTALITY
Pirates Claim Greg Allen Off Waivers From Yankees
The Pittsburgh Pirates have claimed outfielder Greg Allen off waivers from the New York Yankees reports Fansided’s Robert Murray.
The 28-year-old Allen saw only 15 games of action in pinstripes last season but made the most of his time, putting up an admirable .270/.417/.432 slash line and going a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts.
Angels Claim Andrew Velzaquez From Yankees
The Angels have claimed infielder Andrew Velazquez off waivers from the Yankees, per announcements from both teams.

I liked Velasquez energy but he's been on like 5 teams and they have ss prospects in the minors. On top of that Allen once the Yankees sat him down we saw they didnt care to play him again.
