But, you were okay with Jonathan Davis. Maybe Cashman can trade Florial and get him back for you. I knew what Davis was and the reasoning for giving him a try. Completely expendable if we needed to release him due to options, etc. By the way… have we dumped his sorry ass yet? Because I won’t be okay with him in 2022… Lefty Florial was contributing with a .990 OPS, switch-hitting Allen was playing even better with his ability to steal bases, and you understand the reasoning for giving the completely expendable right-handed Jonathan Davis a try over both of them during a pennant race?

Remember, the Yanks missed out on hosting the wild card game by one win or one less lose. Mindless decisions like this, didn't help the cause.

I appreciated what both players had done, but I had no fantasy that they would continue at the pace of play they had established, not any fantasy that Davis would equal their contributions…

Indeed! By the way, Jonathan Davis remains on the AAA roster. I believe he was DFA'd late in the season to clear up a roster spot and now other team saw in him what Cashman did. Go figure. There was a NY Post article this morning on the current depth at the centerfield position. The following was mentioned about Jonathan Davis: “Jonathan Davis also remains on the roster at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but he’s not more than an emergency option.” Also, the article listed Brett Gardner’s contributions during the stretch run: “If the Yankees offer Gardner a new deal, they’ll be counting on him to pick up where he left off. Gardner overcame a rough first half and had an OPS of .799 in his final 52 games, after Aug. 1.” nypost.com/2021/11/06/yankees-center-field-depth-has-suddenly-disappeared/Not bad for a planned fourth outfielder. Unfortunately, there were 88 other games in which Gardy played for a total of 140 for the Yankees last season, which is more games than Aaron Hicks has ever played in a season during his entire career. Why, oh why, would they sign Hicks to such a long contract? Without Hicks, a free agent like Marte would fit right in, with Gardy as a lefty off the bench still playing fine defensively.

I’m not minding this. After a March/April of .351 with 9 HR, he never hit more than 4 HR in any month and was no better than an average DH. At 35 years of age he’s much more likely to become a lesser hitter than a better one. I figure his presence deters the Red Sox from improving at DH…

Giving up flyballs in Dodger Stadium is less dangerous than Yankee Stadium.

Giving up flyballs in Dodger Stadium is less dangerous than Yankee Stadium. That’s true. Although even Dodger Stadium won't hold some of those 420-foot blasts Heaney was serving up.

Should we go after Kershaw? He may be able to dominate again in the AL with hitters unfamiliar with him. He hasn’t exactly been an innings eater in recent seasons, but he’s remained effective…
And what of Kenley Janssen? He looks like he was on the way out in 2019-2020, but he revised himself and had a fine season in 2021. Can we trust Chapman going forward? …
Just food for thought. There’s meat on the table… though both could re-sign in LA…
