If you all re-read my Part III Post in Oct. (Part of my Six-Year Plan) you will see I recommended we TRY to trade for Matt Olson
Look atOakland’s Payroll in 2020: OAK--$89.7 M (And Oak will be cutting this $$$...)
Olson 1B Arb. coming soon Oakland likes a Small Tight Payroll = just might be open to discussing a trade. But go ahead have a good laugh…
OLSON: Younger than Rizzo--just as good defender--far better offensive player--cheaper than Rizzo--Not FA until 2024. PLUS, the A's are a high energy team.
Depends on who the A's want in return ???
...Olson (28 next year): A 2021 All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner, Olson leads all first basemen with 34 Defensive Runs Saved and a 22.8 Ultimate Zone Rating since 2017.
He’s sixth among first basemen in Statcast’s Outs Above Average during that time. Olson swatted a career-best 39 home runs in 2021 and, most importantly, cut his once-problematic strikeout rate to an 16.8% level that is well below the league average.
Olson walks at a high clip, has massive left-handed power, plays elite defense and looks to have made huge gains in his contact skills. He hit .271/.371/.540 in 2021 despite a cavernous home stadium. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Olson would be a wonderful fit, but the king’s ransom Oakland woukd want is likely problematic. The fact that his salary is controllable makes me think he’s not going anywhere until closer to his FA season. No. Not laughing at you, Dome. Sometimes with you…

I'd support him while holding my nose if he signed here, but I'd never buy his jersey.

We’d have to give him a rough nickname. Maybe “North” Correa would do… North Correa Blasts Baltimore…

Andrew Chafin to the Yankees on a three-year, $21 million deal would be intriguing. He's a solid reliever who likes big moments, and he looks like he belongs on the 1977 Yankees, with his mustache, high socks, and burly frame.

Said it today to some friends, if Yanks don't poach Olson and a SP, say Manaea, from Oakland in their soon-to-be firesale, plus add one of Seager/Correa, and trade for an athletic OFer who can play all 3 spots, it'll be a disappointment. Cole, Stanton and Judge won't be this elite for much longer, have to pounce now and do away with these luxury tax dances that have cost them considerable depth/flexibility in recent years. Yankees have the farm system depth to deal from for a big trade and the financial might to buy some FAs. It's time to get greedy.

Yankees have the farm system depth to deal from for a big trade and the financial might to buy some FAs. It's time to get greedy. Right. Six year plans built around youth are for Tampa’s and Arizona’s. We need to utilize every weapon in our quiver to build a roster with players that are in, or set to hit their prime. If a young player fits, that’s okay, but we can’t raise them all through the diaper stage. The only way to nab a player like Olson is to be willing to empty a good portion of young talent out. Not the ones we want to trade, the ones Oakland will want…

Until the new CBA is completed, I am dubious about what Cashman is actually willing and able to do. Of course, Cashman speaks with everyone to gauge interest, so that’s the normal tramp through the off-season woods. I hope he has the wherewithal to address his own public talking points with or without the new CBA in place. Thus far, he’s stated that he wants to improve shortstop, centerfield, and first base. He’s also said that he’s satisfied with catching depth but is open to anything, which is boilerplate Cashman-speak. Lastly, he’s mentioned a reluctance to have DJ LeMahieu installed as the everyday first baseman, which could signal Gleyber Torres will be part of any big-time trade deal in addition to the loss of major minor league talent. I always wanted to use major and minor back to back in a sentence.

You mentioned my Six-Year plan built around Youth are for likes of Tampa, etc. = Just to note Tampa went to WS in 2020 and WE didn't. Tampa won our division we barely made it as a WC = Tequila stop laughing.
And then you said, 'Willing to empty a good portion of our young talent... (that we have spent recent years building, etc. our future for maybe, just maybe instant gratification, if that??? SMART MOVE = NOT!!! ).
I need to correct you: The YANKS do have a Plan it is a 12-year plan of NOT going to the WS.
With our Salary Cap of above $200m and probably going higher(laughter in background); while Tampa will be shedding their Salary Cap to probably around $75M or so.
Big $$$ FA--LT Contracts--Swinging Away for HRS and just hitting AIR, passed balls, awful base running, etc....YEAH right, think WE are going to WS???
Tequila stop laughing they do not know any better for over ten years signing Players to LT Contracts for BIG $$$ has gotten them ZERO!!! I know, now I am laughing...
Instead maybe one day, just one day???!!!= WE, the Yanks might come up with a Plan (proactive) that will get us to the WS in a matter of only a few years (twice in six years) INSTEAD of reacting (being reactive) each year when didn't make the WS by signing more Expensive FA's to long term contracts etc.
Doing the same actions, making the similar decisions year in year out, yet expecting better results. THAT IS THE YANKS PLAN (every damn year) = Just Hilarious!!! I am laughing so hard I need to Piss.
Tequila & I are BOTH Vomiting after reading this‼! Another $300m Player for the Yanks??? (Cole Stanton you two have company maybe a lot of company...).
DID THEY FORGET they have three SS in the Minors--each making less than $1m/year???OF course some Poster will rapidly state = THEY ARE NOT READY YET‼! Yankees’ Cashman On Carlos Correa, Anthony Rizzo. …Correa, who seems unlikely to sign before a potential December lockout, is reported to have received a five-year, $160MM offer from the Astros that seems more for show than anything. As the top player on the free agent market, Correa is in line for $300MM or more. …Cashman has also spoken to the agent for first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who appeared in 50 games for the Yankees after a July trade. The GM noted, “He obviously was really good for us, we feel, both on the offensive side and on the defensive side and on the leadership side, so he brings a lot of good things to the table. I know he liked it here, I know we liked having him, but nothing has gone past that.” Rizzo, 32, put up a 113 wRC+ for the Yankees. In projecting a three-year, $45MM contract, MLBTR took into account intangibles like Rizzo’s reputation around the game. --11-10-21: www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/biggest-offseason-question-for-each-mlb-team-dodgers-list-of-free-agents-yankees-shortstop-opening-more/ar-AAQxUtN A GOOD READ
