Wow, this is a good sign for the elite free agent pitchers on the market. Rodriquez is good, but I'm not sure he's this good.

Watching MLBTV and Correa is quoted as agreeing that Jeter didn't deserve any of his Gold Gloves. Correa was what, maybe 12 or 13 when Jeter won his last one? I mean, he's not the first to hold that opinion and it's not a crime. But it's not a good look if he had any plans of succeeding Jeter at the position. I'd like to change my vote from Correa to Seager. In further news, Correa also says that they should never remove the asterisk from Roger Maris’ 61 and that the Angels would have let Nolan Ryan pitch until his arm fell off to get one more strikeout than Koufax. He swears the moon don’t hang quite as high as it used to. And outside, it starts raining…

Wow, this is a good sign for the elite free agent pitchers on the market. Rodriquez is good, but I'm not sure he's this good. At first blush, I’m in total agreement with you. Yet, his last three full seasons, there he is. 45-19 (.703). His worst year of the three was 2021, with a 4.74 ERA, but his FIP was 3.32, which given his 9.6 hits per 9 seems a bit generous, but math is math. He also had that 19-6 and 6th in the CYA in 2019. All of that seems to put him somewhere in the top 75% or so, and he’s a still in his prime age 29 in 2022. A little short of a guaranteed star, but he should slot in nicely, giving Detroit depth (and taking some of that depth away from Boston)…

Can we trust Heyman?

Reliability is not a word I associate with Heyman, but I believe everyone expects the Dodgers to try to keep Corey Seager and the Yankees to entice the left-handed hitting shortstop to the Bronx.

One Yankee name I see getting some traction in trade talks is Chad Green. Nothing specific, but many think he has some interest from other teams.

This doesn't sound right. Why would Cashman offer 8 million less than the qualifying offer?

Isn’t that offer less than Kluber’s contract last season?

Isn’t that offer less than Kluber’s contract last season? Yup. Kluber got 11 mill. After finishing in third place, Cashman now making fourth place offers to free agents. Andrew Heaney nearly received that much from the Dodgers. Reminds me of when the Yankees desperately needed starting pitching in the second half, and we lost Dallas Keuchel over $700,000. Somewhere in Tampa Rougned Odor is practicing his knuckleball for the unveiling of the Yankees’ version of Shohei Otani.
