Isn’t that offer less than Kluber’s contract last season? This doesn't sound right. So much bullshit on Twitter right now. Also, I heard whoever signs Verlander loses a draft pick. Anyone know if that's true? Yes, its true. Complete rules on Qualifying Offers here:

So, we stand to lose our next Drew Henson or Heathcliff Slocum or Dave Parrish or Eric Duncan?

Tequila has three reasons why Cash only offered Verlander only $8m:
"--Figures his wife makes that in one month modeling -- he doesn't need more $$$.
--Will leave mucho $$$,like $400m to sign a SS to a 30-year deal
--Will leave a few million left to give Sanchez a 10-year extension."
Tequila, pass me the mushrooms, PLEASE!!!

After finishing in third place, Cashman now making fourth place offers to free agents. Andrew Heaney nearly received that much from the Dodgers. Reminds me of when the Yankees desperately needed starting pitching in the second half, and we lost Dallas Keuchel over $700,000. Somewhere in Tampa Rougned Odor is practicing his knuckleball for the unveiling of the Yankees’ version of Shohei Otani. I thought that was his “knucklehead” ball…

I'm glad Cashman didn't go all out to sign a pitcher coming off a major injury, they've already done that enough.

You have to wonder if the Yankees are interested in trying Kluber for another one year contract, or if Tanaka might get another look.

PLEASE keep Peraza & Volpe
...That’s surely good news for Correa, as he and his representatives will want as many teams in the bidding as possible, especially historically big spenders such as the Yankees.
The club is certainly a fit for a shortstop, since moving Gleyber Torres to second base in September.
However, they may opt not to make a long commitment to Correa, or any of the other highly-touted free agent shortstops, on account of prospects Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe.
“No question that factors in because we do feel in Peraza and Volpe we do have two long-time impact big-league players,’’ said Boone. “We’re excited about those players and believe they are real. That factors into any decisions the organization and [Cashman] make.”

He's a nice player, still young, but the competition will be steep if Pittsburgh makes him available. Marte only costs money, and Hal has plenty of that buried deep in his Jack Benny vaults. I want a $350 million payroll next year. Shock and awe. I'm getting old and want rings. I'd love either one of them. Don't want no Gardner or Hicks out there next year. I see another talented CFer, Byron Buxton of the Twins, is reputedly being shopped. Hard pass there. He makes Hicks look like an Iron Man.

But I have a hard time feeling good about a player that has only twice been able to participate in 92 games within a 7-year span… I like the idea of giving up talent for 26 year old Reynolds rather than big bucks for a 33 year old CF… and watching him age into a corner within a couple years…
