Little bit of resigning Didi in Yankee Twitterdom today. Love Didi, but no. Yeah, that ship has sailed. He's a terrible SS now and can't hit left handers.

A quietly good switch hitter with some pop… used to play a good bit of SS a few years back, has pretty much aged out of that at 32…

Also a possible indication they are moving on from signing Baez. I read Cano was removed from the Winter League roster due to lower back problems on Wednesday, and now that Cano has been suspended for PEDs twice, who knows what he is as a hitter without enhancement.

Little bit of resigning Didi in Yankee Twitterdom today. Love Didi, but no. Yeah, that ship has sailed. He's a terrible SS now and can't hit left handers. In 2020, Didi hit .318/.380/.497/.876 against right-handed pitching. Last season, he was terrible offensively except for July, but he still has some pop with 13 homers and 54 RBI in 368 at bats, most all of which came against righties. Defensively, he’s no better than Elvis Andrus or Gleyber Torres at -10 DRS, but much better than Jose Iglesias, who was awful with -22 DRS. In a platoon situation, in which he’s getting regular days off (if there is one thing the Yankees excel at it’s providing rest) and innings off to keep his legs fresh and in favor of a better defensive player like A. Simmons, I think he’s worth a look. We know he’s a great leader and clubhouse guy, and he’s left handed. With Urshela, LeMahieu, Torres, and Gallo able to play multiple positions in a pinch, it could/might/may work until Peraza is ready, or rather the Yankees are ready to start his clock. Again, this scenario presupposes the Yankees go cheap with a one- or two-year stop gap and avoid the better options of Seager and Story and Correa. It is one of the least optimal choices the Yankees could make, but if they continue to make second, third, and fourth place offers, what shall be the options remaining?

The Mets make another move: Canha have a Yankee deal somewhere in my future? Where is Cashman?

What do you guys think of Nicky Lopez? yanksgoyard.com/2021/11/26/yankees-royals-nicky-lopez-trade-shortstop/Interesting option, but the Royals would be in the best of bargaining positions, having depth at the position and knowing the Yankees have an empty pantry now that Tyler Wade and Andrew Velasquez are gone, and Peraza is not yet ready. Under team control until 2025 and only 26, he'd likely cost a premium prospect or two. According to the Fielding Bible, Lopez was +3 in Defensive Runs Saved last season in 1233.2 innings.

I'm not sure. KC has a nice and inexpensive double play combo with Lopez & Merrifield, I would think they would want to keep them, but small market teams are hard to figure out. I'd still like to see the Yanks go the free agent route for their SS, but Hal has to open up the wallet.

The Mets land their third free agent of the day and this one is a major one. Marte would have looked good in CF at Yankee Stadium and this is a fair deal.

Brett Gardner is just sitting back, biding his time, drawing red marks through the names of free agent centerfielders. I wonder if Cashman ever made an offer? Maybe he's considering Byron Buxton? All quiet on the River Avenue front.

The Royals' top prospect is a shortstop at AAA: Bobby Whitt, Jr. Of course, he can also play third base. The Royals have so few bats, it does seem like a long shot they would trade a .300 hitting shortstop, even with no power.
