The Mets land their third free agent of the day and this one is a major one. Marte would have looked good in CF at Yankee Stadium and this is a fair deal. Wouldn't have minded if he signed that deal with the Yankees.

Who needs him? We have Hicks who may even play a few dozen games this year.

Kiner-Falefa can't hit but he's an excellent defender at SS and 3B. I wonder if he's even available?

What do you guys think of Nicky Lopez? yanksgoyard.com/2021/11/26/yankees-royals-nicky-lopez-trade-shortstop/Interesting option, but the Royals would be in the best of bargaining positions, having depth at the position and knowing the Yankees have an empty pantry now that Tyler Wade and Andrew Velasquez are gone, and Peraza is not yet ready. Under team control until 2025 and only 26, he'd likely cost a premium prospect or two. According to the Fielding Bible, Lopez was +3 in Defensive Runs Saved last season in 1233.2 innings. RIZZ: How goes it? Hoping everything is OK???!!!

Tequila & I are Puzzled to say the least = "Why isn't Peraza or even Volpe ready yet??? Because the are too YOUNG??? WHY???
ALL this FA & Trade Talke about SS's and we have two = Peraza & Volpe???!!!
Maybe WE do not get it = Maybe unknown to Tequila & I is that:
In the Minor Leagues:
--The Field is different??? --The Bats are different??? --The 1B is closer to SS than in MLB??? --The Rules are different???

The competition is different. It has been rumored that Peraza is ready defensively but not yet with the bat at present.

The speculation gets almost to the point of hilarity, doesn’t it? I think I’ve read about maybe 60-75% of all MLB SS as being “possibilities” for the Yankees. Yet, it’s still quite possible that we might snatch one of the big fish out of the pond.
Kiner-Falefa (Mr. Horse Feed) is an interesting name. His bat is considered a weakness, but he’s a speed demon that needs only to get on base to be a lineup asset… And his glove at SS is nothing to be ashamed of. But… here I am, speculating just like all the others who have no more of a clue than I do…

Various reasons. The players are very young, Peraza is 21 & Volpe is only 20. Another reason is that because of COVID, there was no minor league season in 2020, all of these minor leaguers lost a full year of valuable experience. We just need to patient and let these kids play, Peraza ended last year at double A and held his own with a .294/.348/.466 slash line. (He received 8 games of playing time at AAA and hit .289). I guess the one negative for Peraza is a poor walk to strike out ratio, something he needs to work on. Volpe is a hitting machine, HR's doubles, walks, the kid does it all. He even stole 33 bags! I really hope they hold on to him.

I can't see anyway Baltimore trades Mullins to the Yankees unless it's a gross over pay, something Cashman shouldn't do.

He came basically out of nowhere last season to post a 30/30 year. Will the power stay? Can he keep that BA up? He sure seems like a good one, but is he really THAT good? … Heck, .270 and 20/20 would be okay, right? …

It would probably mean bye-bye Volpe… plus other meaningful pieces from the farm… That would be a real quick conversation for me. No way I'm trading Volpe unless it's for a superstar, which Mullins isn't. Of course the Yanks could have just signed the better player, Marte in free agency but that ship has sailed.
