HOW WOULD YOU ALL & THE YANKEES’ OWNERS LIKE TO
(PART ONE):--With a Payroll of less than $175m go to the WS twice every six years?
Yes, this can be achieved, but will need major changes, disruptions, sacrifices, turnover of personnel, etc.
Yes, I have a very intense/in-depth plan.
I will share just Bits & Pieces of it (over a number of Posts…) for I am going to Copyright the entire plan and see if the Yanks’ Owners might be interested (???).
Yes, the $175m is doable…keep in mind the TB Rays for instance, have a payroll around $72m. Braves $147M. Giants $152M. Brewers $97M. Etc. etc. etc.
--First off, we need to admit that we NOT IN GOOD SHAPE (if one looks at the last 10-years of not going to the WS) = WE HAVE to admit we need help before we can make progress.
If not, it will be the same results = CRAP.
We need to be HONEST and think logically, use our common sense, think new age and drop a lot if of the old ways of Baseball thinking.
--We need to clean house on the Executive Level (not all, but most). Plus, fire Boone and Cash (or trade Cash???)
If the Yankees were, a Publicly Traded Company, the MAJOR Shareholders would be demanding Board Seats & for Heads to Roll, etc. In other words, we need to a Spring Cleaning of our Top Shelves.
If not = Then expect the same yearly actions/decisions with similar results like we have achieved in the last 10-years and in addition it is most likely we will only spend more $$$ on F/A’s, etc. yet probably, still not going to WS. Go figure…for I cannot.
Just think for a second of how much money has been spent and not even a WS appearance in ten years: How about around $1.5 Billion or so (maybe way more???). There is something very wrong here.
--Next We have to STOP believing/saying that every year we are going to the WS. In today’s Baseball World, that result is very difficult to accomplish.
We need to inform our Fans, Sportswriters, Posters about our Six-Year Plan and get them excited about the near future results (Honesty).
Some will say WE would lose fans…well with Ten Years of no WS appearances…how many fans have we lost (???—check the numbers please)—just an excuse to avoid changes, disruption, etc.
I have a Very Creative Marketing Plan to use with our Fans, etc.
--Without any doubt, we need to move away from the SWING AWAY crap…just look at the numbers:
--Judge hits HRS only 7.09% of the time (ABS)
--Gallo 7.63%
--Stanton only 6.86%
--Sanchez only 6%
--Rizzo only 4.43%
I know that Fans get excited about HRS—but just like 6.42% of the time??? Think about this…
Yes, HRS are good, fun & exciting but a Player should not be approaching the plate nearly every time, thinking ‘Swing Away’—the numbers do not lie.
If they get their HR Pitch go ahead swing away.
However, they also need to be-- trained/coached/thinking/focused on REGULAR Hits; Hitting to the Opposite Field, Sac. Flies; Bunting, etc. The Mangers/Coaches need to emphasis this.
This type of thinking needs to be thru out our entire Farm System also (Critical—for they are our future).
--We also need to STOP the Long Term HUGE $$$ Contract (There are exceptions)—has not worked out so go for us???‼!
***Stanton is at $29/year & soon to go to $32/year and going on 32. Are the results we have gotten from Stanton, what we expected??? The answer is NO‼! Will he stay healthy???
***Cole is at $36/year for how long??? Look at his Sept. numbers and of course the WC game. Is he ok? Is there a problem?
***I could list many others = Ellsbury, Hicks, Tex, etc. etc. etc. that basically FLOPPED over the long haul…
The problems with so many Long-Term Contracts is as the Player ages = their performance suffers, injuries increase, etc. (there are exceptions).
One of the worse things is those $$$ we are paying to aging players, keeps us from increasing the $$$ we pay our younger players, etc. and/or signing other players unless one wants to exceed the MLB Salary Cap
YET as we speak there might be a good chance of us signing a SS to a LT huge $$$ contact—even though we have available two if not three SS in our Farm System.
--There is NOT one Player that is so damn important that without him we will not go to the WS. We need to start thinking this way.
And yes, we could survive without Judge, Stanton, Cole, etc. and my Six Year Plan would still work.
--We need to get as many of our farm players in the very near future to be able to play multiple positions (I call this Cross-Training)
For instance, = Wade; he can play 2b, 3b, SS, OF and he is a SH. Plus he is fast = SB.
With more players like a Wade Type = Gives a
GOOD manager so many positive options = this is great.
I love watching Josh Harrison play = 2021: 2b 3b SS OF: 8 HR; 60 RBI; .279; Very FEW Errors; Great Clubhouse Presence. FA. Salary was only 1M. Numbers are very good compared to some of our players. Yes, he is older at 34, but an exception to the rule for now…
In our Farm System we need to get as many qualified players to be Utility Types = For instance, are Volpe & Peraza & Cabrera also being coached to be able to not only play their position but also like, 2B, 3B, maybe OF or 1B, etc.???
--Yes, we need Lefties, but we do NOT necessarily need to trade for them or sign expensive FA’s.
For instance (as I mentioned in a prior post), we didn’t have to get Gallo or Rizzo. We had: Florial bats L, Allen Bats L & Valezquez is a SH and Wade Bats L, etc. Who knows what they would have contributed if played regularly???‼!
--We need to stop thinking with Passion, our Hearts, etc. Instead, we need to think with our Reason, Common Sense, Logic, etc.
For instance, JUDGE…Should we sign him to a Long-Term Contract? Keeping in mind his health issues, etc.
Or should we see if we can sign him to a 3-4 year contract, for like $22-$26/Year with a Team Option? He would be 34 years old or so at the end of the contract.
Sadly, for the vast majority of Players (there are exceptions) over 34-years old = Their Numbers/Performance drop; Injuries INCREASE; Habits/Attitudes are more difficult to change; more set in their ways, etc.
OR should we Shop Judge around now to see what we get in return (For Now = would be a lot). Or do we keep him long term and make him a Franchise Player (would cost a lot—his health???).
By the way = Tequila approves this Plan so far.
