I never wanted Giambi, Clemens, ARod, or Gallo. Once they’re in Pinstripes, I want them to do well and help the team win. Correa will command a pile of cabbage, so I’d prefer a guy like Seager who may end up at third base eventually, once the Peraza/Volpe types are ready. Your list is pretty much the same as mine, except I was neutral on Gallo (bad on me) and I would include Sheffield, who I couldn't stand. But like you, once they don the interlocking NY, I grit my teeth and wish them success. There's no team in baseball with a roster consisting solely of model citizens. Despite the injury history, it's tempting to make a run at Seager. He's a great player -- and so is Correa, truth to tell -- but I can't imagine the Dodgers not pulling out all the stops to keep him. They've been the most successful franchise in the sport over the past few years, and other than the Yankees they are the most prestigious brand out there. At least drive his price up. As if the Dodgers care. Man, the Yanks need to start throwing money around as if there were no tomorrow. You might have stated the ONE reason LA would let Seager walk. If he’s injured he causes undue stress on the roster. They might not card for the inconvenience of having to play a back up too often, especially after 106 wins to get a wild card birth. What a lesson for all of the 28 teams that win less. Never take your foot off the gas. That could be the game you needed…

Wow, Arozarena just had a strait up steal of home. Not the fluky one, when a runner on first takes off for second and the runner at third then breaks for home, but a legit, actual steal of home. We just don't see that in the game anymore. Rays win big. Hopefully they sweep the Chowdah heads.

He's hit 11 home runs in his last 19 post-season games, second only to Babe Ruth hitting 12 over such a span. And he is still considered a rookie. He's older than I thought at 26. The Cardinals signed him originally and traded him to Tampa Bay in 2019 for a guy named Matthew Libertore, who was last spotted playing for the Bowling Green Hot Rods. He can take over a game, that's for sure.

Boston now up 8-5 after a barrage of four home runs. Still only the fifth inning.

So, Boston eeks out a 14-6 victory. Held to 20 hits.
The Giants no-names are even more anonymous with Belt out, but Logan Webb threw 7 2/3 scoreless to beat the Dodgers 4-0. Buster Posey has been around long enough that he could compare catching Webb's playoff debut to a similar debut by Tim Lincecum in 2010.
The two guys at the top of the Giants order, Tommy LaStella and Wilmer Flores, seem like the kind of players who might be leading off for a 107 loss team rather than a 107 win team.
Logan Webb has one of those two last-name names where you need to check if you're saying it correctly. Boone Logan presented the same problem, in reverse.

I don't know if I can take a Boston-Houston ALCS.

You and me both, Kaybli. I need at least some minuscule rooting interest.
I am reminded of Dave Barry discussing the ease with which men can develop a rooting interest in almost anything. The example he gave was of a guy screaming at his TV about a tennis match between two Czech tennis players he had never even heard of 20 minutes earlier.

All you have to do is sign up for one of the gambling websites and start betting on a side. Some of my friends bet on the most ridiculous things these days like the 3 point shooting contest or Formula 1 racing.

On the topic of gambling-- I was reading that before the season began, the Vegas sports books were giving 100-1 odds on the Giants winning the World Series. As late as August you could get 10-1. For some reason that made me think of DoMe, who always seemed to have a spare ten grand lying around to throw at sports wagering.

I hope he's doing well.

Could the Red Sox and their cheating manager just go away already? If the Rays lose this series it's again just proves they are a regular season team. The only times they've made it past the first round ever are 2008 before all the gimmicky Rays stuff started and the shortened season last year.
