I think the biggest player loss was their failure to get a guaranteed percent of income as the NBA has. They left the old system in place, which is increasingly useless for players as fewer teams invest in them. That was the biggest issue of all. The NFL & NBA are obligated to spend a set % of league revenues on salaries, so the salary cap goes up or down (mostly up) based on overall league revenues. The same isn't true with MLB. lot of these owners just put the extra revenue in their pockets. |
