-An expanded playoff bracket, with 14 teams reaching the postseason. The players have expressed an openness for a 12-team postseason in the past, though as Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith notes, an expanded playoff is “arguably players’ biggest bargaining chip” given how much the league and the owners want that extra postseason TV revenue.
It's a shame these owners are so greedy that they're willing to turn MLB into the NBA or NHL, where the regular season is meaningless. There used to a level of pride in making the post season and the regular season actually was important. Say goodbye to the excitement of September pennant races since pretty much any team that's over .500 will make the playoffs. Just awful. |

Why spend the extra 10 million to go from an 88 win team to a 90 win team when you make the playoffs either way? It's just bad and short sighted for several reasons. For me, the MLB & NFL were far and away better than the NBA & NHL, because their regular seasons were important and not every team with a pulse made the post season. |

Birds building their nests, laying eggs, hatching them. We could solve world hunger, create world peace. Learn how to control the weather. Play badminton. Sleep. Would a year of sleep perhaps extend life? … |

In the outlandish terms around which their world is built, your perspective may be correct. But from your professional viewpoint you also certainly understand that business is not engaged in to satisfy the needs of the employee. The business owners assume the major portion of risk should the business fall asunder. There are owners in baseball right now who are exceedingly generous with players, and then there are owners who are not. Alas, it is always ownership and top management with the golden parachutes and the employee who is left in the cold… |

Everything revolves around TV ratings these days, more postseason participants mean more eyeballs on televised-created drama. |
