The 1980 Yankees had some old pitchers -- Tommy John (37), Luis Tiant (39), Jim Kaat and Gaylord Perry, both 41. El Ducky was older than all of them combined  |

The Yankees have quite a tradition of adding great pitchers late in their career: Catfish Tommy John Tiant Kaat Gaylord Perry Phil Niekro Joe Niekro Jimmy Key Clemens Randy Johnson Those are just from my lifetime and I'm probably missing some. Was cone to young to be on the list |
