Benintendi’s power has really dried up. Is it just the difference between KC and Boston’s ball parks? He doesn’t even have many 2BH…

And I meant to mention that his base stealing went away, too. Since he’s scoring high among fielders, I would assume he still runs reasonably well. I’m simply questioning if this is the right guy for the Yankees. Covering left field defensively is more important than producing a ton of offense. It would seem there should be plenty of other options… Plus this guy is stained with Red Sox 🩸 blood… 😂

".....there may be interest in Gallo" is one of the more bizarre statements I've read this year. What GM looks at Gallo and thinks, "That's the guy we need. Wonder what we'll have to give up to get him?"

Benintendi is the perfect type of player for what Yanks need, he's a versatile OFer with OBP, gap-to-gap type of hitter who could pop a few more in YS alla Damon. Also won't have trouble playing in NY. He is a rental so idk how well KC is gonna play this. I am sure they'll try and wait as long as possible to get a desperate team to give up a top 100 prospect, but i dont see the Yanks being the one to go do it. Perfect fit but not sure we'll be a match.

Well that's interesting, I guess they feel they'd get a better package if dealt earlier with more games left in the season.

5:18PM: The Yankees have also been scouting Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale writes, with Nightengale describing Peralta as a “fallback option” if Benintendi isn’t acquired. Peralta is also a free agent after the season, and is hitting .245/.312/.460 with 11 home runs through 263 PA.

I’d just as soon keep Joey and hope for a turn-around if that’s all we’re going to do…

Let’s do the long-awaited deal with Washington for Soto. His BA is down to .243 this year, but the OBP is .398, and he has 17 dingers. Let him lead off with the Soto Shuffle…

We could do the long-awaited deal for Trout and watch him disintegrate over the next few years… we waited too long, A-Man…

Since his near no hitter at the beginning of June, Jameson Taillon has not been the same. In the game thread against Boston, I mentioned he may be more effective a la a Phil Hughes-move to the bullpen. Chances are with his starter's repertoire, good spin rate, and assisted by a couple upticks in mph on his fastball, he could be a Chad Green type reliever, which the Yankees currently need. If the Yankees cannot make a deal for a starting pitcher without emptying the prospect barn, they need to give Clarke Schmidt a chance. One thing about Schmidt is he has a finishing pitch in that curveball. German could be a long man in the bullpen. I really hope the Yankees do not sacrifice anyone for a return of Zack Britton, who would be another version of the current Aroldis Chapman, unhittable when he is right and likely to walk the house when he's not. Jameson Taillon has allowed 20 runs in 20 2/3 innings (8.70 ERA) over his last four starts. Since his near no-hitter on June 2, batters are hitting .333/.366/.608/.974. In other words, everyone in the league is hitting him like a hot Aaron Judge. In his last 35.2 innings, Taillon has given up 27 earned runs for an ERA of 6.81 and an amazing 51 hits. Interestingly, Jamo has still struck out 33 batters and walked only 7 in that horrific span. If I were the manager, I would pull the plug on his starting again until next season, when he does not have an ankle surgery and a protracted rehabilitation. His problems may just be fatigue; however, the Yankees' strength that has enabled them to have the sparkling record that they do is starting pitching above all other improvements in defense and scoring. yanksgoyard.com/2022/07/11/jameson-taillon-magnifies-yankees-need-trade-starting-pitching/
