The thing that ultimately bothers me about Cole is that he has pitched 42 innings and allowed 24 runs against Boston since joining the Yankees. That's just unacceptable. Didn't half of those runs come in two or three starts? It's not like he hasn't beaten Boston as a Yankee. Who was the last Yankee pitcher that owned Boston, especially in Fenway? Randy Johnson beat the Red Sox like five or six times in his first year with the Yankees, but Yankee fans are down on him because of his ERA when he was over 40 years old and needed back surgery. If Devers is walked with two outs, it is likely still 6-2 and no one is upset. |
