Boy, you hate to hear about any player getting hurt, and the Red Sox were playing very well for a while.

Sac fly for Super Nintendi! Gallo is now in a perfect role. Defensive replacement late in the game, like Paul Blair in the mid- to late 1970s.

Yea thats why I wonder if they do keep him, because theres a big drop defensively from a lot of the Yankees OF when Gallo isn't in there. Just not sure if thats worth a roster spot with AB now here. If he just hit the HRS a little more consistently it would be one thing, but he's not getting on base either.

Chapman works a 1-2-3 inning! Correct mechanics lead to better command leads to confidence. No one who throws 102 mph needs a fork stuck in him. So sayeth Reverend Rizzuto!

Like I remember that year Russell Martin only hit like .210 with the Yankees, but he had like 20 + hr and 50 + RBI from the catcher spot so it balanced out. Gallo has 24 RBI on July 30. That is 6 RBI a month in mostly a starting role..

I don't know if he's a bad guy or anything like that, but there is notably less enthusiasm among the Yankees for Carpenter home runs than for any other player on the team. No chest bumps, no big smiles, just rather perfunctory high fives and stoic reactions. It also seems as if he stays at the end of the dugout and doesn't mix much with the other players.
Maybe he's just shy, or maybe I'm only seeing it at the wrong time, but to me it looks like he isn't welcome with the Cool Kids.

There just isn't enough room on modern rosters, given how relievers are utilized and starters rarely allowed through a line-up three times.
