Some positives:
The Yankees starting rotation is pretty good. That def gives them chances.
Defense was pretty good kept the game close.
Had a decent amount of base runners.
Biggest problem again was bullpen management and strikeouts.

Wasn’t there an opportunity in this game to go four plus innings? Even so, it is a ludicrous statement. German is not a toaster that only has a single function.

In Boone's world, Schmidt for two innings in a tied game was a better option than German or Trivino. He pitches backwards with the pen, using better relievers when the Yankees were already losing.

German, Trivino and Castro need more opps in middle innings, Trivino pitched once vs CLE i think? Castro has some filthy stuff that looked to play vs HOU last night. I like Schmidt long-term but this aint the time to throw him into two close games already. I get we are strapped with BP injuries, but Boone's warts have cost us chances to win game 3 in CLE and now game 1 in HOU. We got over the hurdle vs CLE, hope I am wrong but gonna be hard to do that vs HOU.
That doesn't absolve the hitters, we can't seem to get a gameplan against HOU pitching and their offspeed for seven years now. Seems like we tried to get more contact oriented with DJ, Benintendi, IKF, but two of them are injured. I know Yanks wont but I'd try and play Peraza as much as I can, he's gonna see a fastball and rip at it, not watch it sail by like our guess hitters do.

We struck out 17 times in 33 plate appearances. Schmidt and Montas made no sense to me at all. Why not German? Every teams have injuries but losing DJ in my opinion has really hurt. He has position versatility and even in a down year is one of our better hitters. Carpenter looks lost and Donaldson has replaced Gallo as my new whipping boy. Houston is really good. Our bullpen should be in better shape tonight but unless we score some runs it won't matter. Hope springs eternal.

In the last six playoff games, the Yanks 5 or 6 hits each game. That's incredible. Good thing they're hitting home runs because that's is about as bad as it gets. This is not a good hitting team right now and we've seen this in every playoff since 2009. Sure, injuries have hurt them, but playing people who should not be playing is killing this team. If Judge doesn't start hitting, they'll be lucky to win more than one game.

I just don't see a lot on the roster that will improve in the hitting department based on recent history. Maybe some farm hands but that will really involve a re-shaping of the roster. I get not playing Cabrera. A wonderful surprise but has performed poorly in the playoffs. Can Peraza play 3rd base?

I didn't know Bader had this kind of power. He’s getting balls 410’+ on his homers…

No effort by Donaldson at all. we don't have anyone to replace him Cabrera…

we don't have anyone to replace him Cabrera… I would ordinarily agree with you on this point but Cabrera's hitting, except for his home run, has been miserable in the playoffs.

We got our internet connected. Maybe… just maybe I can see the game via my computer tonight while we work out the kinks on our new TV service.
I had the internet guy inform me that ESPN+ features Yes network and every MLB game. Can anyone confirm?
I thought I’d have to get MLB extra innings for the games…
