Peraza back at 3rd. IKF in center. Hicks seemingly under the bench.
Got to score some runs with Schmidt on the mound.

It would be hard to watch a fifth straight beatdown of Schmidt. He needs to show something. The Yanks are last in the AL East in BA, Runs and OPS. They are tied for 22/23 in the majors (with the Dodgers!) for BA and are 19 in runs scored. Of their 13 position players suited up today, six are hitting .200 or lower (with Trevino at .205). Anthony Rizzo is the only player on the team hitting over .260. They have to up their offensive game. I don't think a returning Bader or Donaldson will supply much more juice with the bat. Still, with all of that, they are 13-8. That in itself is rather amazing. Maybe all that is needed is more smoke and mirrors.

Love seeing Volpe, Cabrera and Peraza all in the lineup.

Love seeing Volpe, Cabrera and Peraza all in the lineup. It has always been a lot more fun watching young guys trying to figure it out than old guys draining an increasingly emptying tank. I loved how that whole bench was genuinely ecstatic with Volpe's home run yesterday. It's fun for them too!

Is the team capped at having three young position players contributing to the big league club? How can they can running out the likes of Calhoun and Cordero?

Schmidt has been killed by lefty batters, and fortunately Jays have only two in their lineup today.

Here's the Yankees recent bullpen usage chart. Hopefully the Schmitt doesn't kill these guy with one of his 4.1 inning starts.

The timing is right -- stopping a team that seems to become increasingly obnoxious -- in the long haul I think these guys are more of a threat than Tampa Bay. Although that 18-3 start is the best since the 2003 Yankees. Schmidt is capable. Something like 6 IP and two runs would work.

Thank you Kaybli. And I hope it's not too late to wish you Eid Mubarak! I haven't been on here the past few days. Thank you so much pipps! The celebrations lasted all weekend, going to peoples houses and eating good food, so you’re not late at all! 😀 I missed the last two games celebrating but I should be here for this one.

Gausman is a mediocre 8-7 versus the Yanks in his career, albeit with a more than respectable 3.49 ERA. It’s an odd match up in a way because a good portion of his numbers vs. the Yanks when Gausman was with Baltimore and didn’t have established track record he has now.
I don’t think he’s going to do us many favors, so I hope Schmidt is up the the task…
