I just read that Wally Pipp is third all-time for Yankees' first basemen in hits. I wouldn't have guessed that one -- I might have thought Moose Skowron behind Lou and Donnie -- but Pipp was a solid player (and a polished raconteur) but obviously The Iron Horse was not to be denied. Gehrig should be the all-time face of the New York Yankees. |
