Nothing wrong with being a traditionalist. I have a white one from the 1998 championship I wear from time to time. Also had the “world championship” wording on it. I often hear someone say “nice hat” when I wear it. Ruthie gave me the actual Yankee cap I usually wear. It’s about 15 years old now. Bleached by the sun and beat up just the right amount. She recently expressed disappointment that I haven’t taken “better care of it”. I had to explain how perfect it is. Nothing like a beat up old cap. So much better than a new one…. I think she gets it now… I also have a white one from a past 4th of July, but the one Ruthie gave you is the perfect kind. It's can take years to get hat worn in to perfection like that.

Bobo Holloman made his MLB debut April 18, 1953, for the St Louis Browns and made 4 relief appearances. In his first START however, on May 6, Holloman threw a no-hitter, becoming the first player to do so in his first start since 1900. He pitched in 22 games that season for the Browns, before being sold to a minor league team. Holloman spent the rest of 1953 and 1954 in the minor leagues, before retiring from active play. www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hollobo01.shtml…

Grandson getting instruction from Blyleven... That's a great picture! Learning a curveball from one of the all time best at throwing it. Actually an old pic. He learned well, and I'm confident he'll be DI in a few years.

Ed Sprague pitched for OAK (Fingers, Hunter, Jackson, La Russa); CIN (Anderson, Bench, Morgan, Perez); STL (Brock, Gibson, Simmons, Torre); & MIL (Aaron, Yount).
This is, of course the elder of the two Ed Spragues, the one that that fathered the younger Ed Sprague…
* that’s fourteen HOF team mates, yet Sprague never made it to the post season..,

Their fastballs overshadowed drop-off-the-table curveballs, especially Ryan's, which broke really late.

It is said that Bryce Harper hit a 570 foot home run in a high school game. Noted that it was with a metal bat, measured by his coaches…

May 27, 1983, Dave Winfield grabs Oakland A’s catcher Mike Heath by the throat at Yankee Stadium.
If my memory serves me right, Mike Norris threw at him and Winfield made a move to charge the mound and Heath got in front of him to stop him and the fight was on!…
