I looked it up. I don't think anyone is going to get this one. I had Strat-O-Matic the year Bert Campaneris was with the Yanks as a utility guy. He had to be 39-40 years old. I’m going to go with Dagaberto Campaneris. Final answer… Now that is impressive Inger. I remember Campy's brief stint with the Yankees, but I didn't remember him at second base. I played APBA rather than SOM as a kid -- before that it was Ethan Allen All Star Baseball-- but in any event that was serious recall by you. |

I love the stat, but who even thinks to look that up? They just mentioned that only Mickey and Melky have been younger while hitting a grand slam for the Yankees. So now I have to wonder if either of them hit their GS left handed? The potential is that Volpe “might” be the youngest to hit one right-handed. So I guess there’s your answer. If I were in that field, I would look that kind of stuff up… |
