I started looking up players and found him on my second try. First I looked up Kevin Maas. Nope. Then Bye Bye Balboni and he did it on 7/26/1983 off of Frank Tanana. Balboni did play in 81' and 82', but exceeded his rookie status in 83'.

I think you were still right. That would still be his “Rookie Season” until that season would be completed… |

That would still be his “Rookie Season” until that season would be completed… Only in a case where a player has exceeded his rookie minimums the year before does he not qualify to be classed a rookie. |
