As much as everyone dislike's Cashman, I really believe he has his hands tied to what he can and cannot do. He does what he can within his limitations and lately those limitations have had negative effects. We don't know what is really going in the Front Office we can only speculate. Since he has such limitations he shouldn't make any moves, but I believe he's hoping to get lucky if he makes a move, and so far all the moves have been terrible. I believe they gave Cashman the contract to be a puppet, because they don't want a real GM who will really want to do there job and make waves. So someone made him hire Stanton and Donaldson? And only spend money on pitchers not hitters? It could be. Resigning Judge was really stupid given his age, cost, and injury history. Save the fortunes invested on younger hitters. Stanton was totally self inflicted. Maybe our dumbest acquistion ever. I’m sure Stanton and Donaldson had to be approved by the suits, and honestly we don’t know if the suits were pushing for them or if Cashman himself wanted them. Visions of Judge and Stanton both hitting 50 and Donaldson another 30 had to be dancing in someone’s head. Just the same they also thought Hicks had finally “arrived” and that DJ would bat .330 forever. Silliness. Maybe Cashman needs to go. Maybe the Steinbrenners need to sell for being so stubborn as to believe they no longer need to bust the luxury tax barrier. With all the mistakes they’re paying for, I dare say they can’t win without paying out more. This is painfully reminiscent of 1965 when everyone suddenly looked old and slow, and there was no cure… but at least this time we’re only 3.5 out of the playoffs and are still (somehow) above .500…

Nobody has any facts other than what we see on the field which is trash.

He has a 300 million dollar payroll to work with, more than anyone but the Mets. The problem is Cashman has bloated this roster with so many older, expensive players who are underachieving. Combine that with poor prospect development and you can see why the Yankees are the shape they're in.

Some of those limitations might be self imposed we have no info saying he's opposed to this vision either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We only know what the media tells us. $265M payroll to be correct, but no one is complaining about Judge or Cole contracts...minus those contracts and they are under $200M. So its Cashman fault that the players are underachieving? Player development; I agree with, but do we really know if this is 100% Cashman's fault. Sure it falls under his umbrella so it his to be his fault I get it....just like corporate. Cashman is not the problem - Hal and company are the real problem. None of what we say or think is going to change anything plus everyone has there opinion. Bottom line is we're just fans who want the best for the team.
