Who wouldn’t make that trade? I know who. Oakland… 100% sure Oakland wouldn't make that trade, since Luis Rengifo plays for the Angels.
Yes, I know you must have been commenting about the other trade.
Yes, I was…

Saw an analyst speculating the Yankees could go after DeJong and move him to 3rd base. Since he's a SS, I assume he would be a good defensive player. He has a little pop with 16 hrs but he is a low BA guy who Ks a lot. I wouldn't do it. Any speculation out west that the Giants might trade Camilo Doval to the Yankees? Haven't heard any but he is going through a rough patch similar to Holmes. Some of my buddies who are Giant fans have really soured on him. In fact Mike Krukow who is a real homer and never criticizes Giant players has recently said it's time to take him out of the closer role.

Acceptable. Dominguez won't be moved though at least according to what I've read from those covering the team. I'd trade Spencer Jones for Mason Miller - the closer in Oakland. If I was an A's fan, along with Jones, I would want Hampton, Neely, and Hamilton to be part of that trade.
As I Yankee fan, I wouldn't want the Yankees to trade Jones unless the Yankees have no faith whatsoever in Neely eventually being their Closer.
If the Yankees have no faith in Neely, then I think the Yankees should make the trade I mentioned. I like your trade proposal better, but I think it's going to take more than Jones for Miller.

While I haven’t completely soured on Jones, I’d make that trade…

I could see Cashman trying to trade for him while his trade value is low, and see if Blake can get Doval on track.

While I haven’t completely soured on Jones, I’d make that trade… As much as I would like to see Jones, Judge, Soto, Dominguez, Rice, all hitting in the same lineup, Miller is a gem.

Most speculation out here is they will not be sellers if he tries to save his job by making the wildcard. It's unlikely that they will, they are 3 back with several teams ahead of them but they have a roster that is full of holes.

If I am moving Spencer Jones I am talking to the Nats. They have a couple of guys that could be big improvements for the Yankees in the bullpen and in LF. If you are moving Jones you are "all in" for 2024 and this team is more than a closer away from being a WS favorite. think you have to start w a closer before any other conversation. during this 8-18 run, holmes has blown 4 games and allowed runs in 6 of 10. while it sux, one thing to blow a won game in june or july but another to blow one in a 7 game series. does anyone really trust him to close out a big PS game.
also getting a closer bumps holmes to the 7th or 8th where he might thrive, providing depth. also not sure LF is a priority over 3B. though he's slumped mightily, not ready to throw verdugo on the scrap heap. 3B imho is a much bigger priority. I don't understand the love for Verdugo. His work in left this year is comparable to that of Bauers or Calhoun. The Yankees have Berti and that could upgrade the offense at 3rd. (DJ still is a good glove.) I don't see a short term upgrade for LF in the system. Please look at Verdugo's numbers. From the little I read about the NL the Nats are open for business and have relievers and outfielders who could help the Yankees.

While he started out with an amazing run of great plays early this season, he peaked at 9 defensive runs saved early this year, which has dropped off to 5 now. He’s no where near as poor as Bauer’s or Calhoun. The drop off has coincided with his offensive drop off, so perhaps it’s related. He may be falling victim to the pressures of NY, ignited by his slump. He no longer appears to have the initial exuberance he displayed at the start of the season… he either needs to get fired back up or be replaced… but with who? …

He is a FA at the end of the year so I think he can be had. On the subject of defensive stats...I don't think they are worth much.
