That's what happens when you throw to the wrong base. This is coaching, once again. Over and over. Shouldn't a veteran OF know what base to throw to? Not on this team. A veteran outfielder who doesn't have the arm he used to and evidently doesn't realize it. Prior to that, Bader made one of the worst throws home I've ever seen. Ball hit the ground not far past second base and dribbled over the mound. |

Gleyber's error was terrible but I can't get over Boone pulling German at 74 pitches and allowing one hit all game. Boone is an idiot.

He could have probably just left German complete the game. What’s the use of having a thrifty pitch count if the manager is going to pull you in the seventh inning anyway?… If I were a starter in that situation, I would not give up the ball to Boone so easily. He would have to argue with me for a while before I left the mound. I'd make him think about removing me an uncomfortable feeling every time. Then you’d get traded like Montgomery. I still think that was why we lost Monty. He felt disrespected and misused… One of these days when Monty is 114 years old he’ll tell all… |

Once the Cubs loaded the bases in the top of the inning, I put my recliner back and just listened to the wonders unfold. I need to go into town, but since they plucked the tarp so quickly I guess I’ll take the rest of my punishment like a man..

In Boone’s ideal world all 5 of his starting pitchers would stay healthy all season and he’d find a way to not allow any of them to qualify for the ERA title…
