Option 3 - Poor roster construction.

Option 3 - Poor roster construction. Agree with Chi. I guess you can say that goes in hand with relying on Judge too much.

I’m going with Chi. Too many castoffs and DH-types.
Letting Stanton dictate his role. He’s not a good fielder and doesn’t produce enough with the bat to compensate for it. I’d like to hav red a left-handed DH for him to platoon with, anx tell him he is no longer wanted in the field. That may make him ask for a trade somewhere else where he can weigh down a different team.
Rizzo is past his prime, big still a plus fielder. We’re all shocked at this HR drought, but it’s still only the third-longest of his career. Perhaps he can bounce back.
Torres is fun when he’s hitting. It’s hard to bark about him right now, but we’ve seen this act before. His strange fielding gaffs and base running errors get old.
Dead weight roster with dumpster dive survivors. Calhoun is a DH that doesn’t hit enough and is put in the field, which is not his bailiwick. Second hand shoes Bauers is perhaps a bit better than his previous seasons, but he’s not a full time player. Keeping Franchy around so we can see his potential with a game kind last night’s once a month while holding Florial back is simple-minded.
The catching position should be defense-first, but when you have two guys that only get on base around 27% of the time it’s a dead weight in the batting order.
The bullpen is great, but depended upon so heavily that they go into slumps and the team suffers for it.
The rotation has out-performed expectations at times but is in a shambles due to injuries and Captain Hook, er… Boone is too quick to the bullpen, leading the problem stated above. Recent struggles have more to do with bringing in upgrades in the form of pitchers coming off injuries and may smooth out in the near future.
I think Boonie may be too soft with his players. The work load management is over done. Letting Stanton play in the field. He’s a bit to loose with this bunch. We don’t know if he whips ass when these baserunners are going to third when the ball us hit in front of them, but if he is, it’s not doing any good.
The lack of lineup balance is sad to see in Yankee Stadium. Many fans think the great Yankee teams were built around big stars, anx they were, but one can never ignore the great platoon work done with role players in our best seasons. You can go back to Mize, or Blomberg. You can get a bit recent with Strawberry and Sierra 2.0.
We always had a strong bench. Now, it’s hard to find a pinch hitter that doesn’t leave us scratching our heads in bewilderment…
And where are the switch-hitters? We’ve employed so many of these 2 for 1 hitters in the past, and they left the opposing managers scratching their heads when it can time for them to use their bullpens. We’ve moved from switch hitters to reclamation projects that don’t produce.

Its really disheartening to see the offense struggle against so many mediocre pitchers. DJ and Rizzo are shells of themselves. Stanton got hot for a little bit but his BA is in the gutter. Volpe and Peraza are going through growing pains. Bader is injured again. We're relying on Franchy Cordero. Sighhhhhhh.

(Rizzo, DJ, Donaldson)

Cashman is the problem
The Mussina jinx is now Stanton. I was never a Mussina fan and do not think he is an HOFer. We signed him after a Championship and didn't win again until the year he retired. Jeter dumped Stanton on us and we all thought we were getting the reigning NL MVP that would put us over the edge. Instead we got a broken down DH that is usually in a slump. No Championship until he is gone.

Too one dimensional and playing too many players out of position.

I’d like to see us get one more inning out of our starters so we can have one less reliever and a stronger, longer bench… too many pitchers…

Cashman should get some blame, the biggest blame goes to Hal and his pocket hungry crony's. Can't construct a team when you have money limitations, you'll always make errors and piss poor judgments out of desperation.

Yea they really should be going for a top name here at this deadline, but if Hal has anything to do with it, it will be someone like Grichuk which doesn't move the needle at all.
