Boone is terrible, the players don't know little league fundamentals, they rely too much on Judge and Cole, and there is a hole at just about every position, but the blame is squarely on Cash and Hal. They put this team together and right now it's a shit show. It might get better, but it's going to have to take a lot of people to get it together and I'm not sure they can.

Cashman should get some blame, the biggest blame goes to Hal and his pocket hungry crony's. Can't construct a team when you have money limitations, you'll always make errors and piss poor judgments out of desperation. Yea they really should be going for a top name here at this deadline, but if Hal has anything to do with it, it will be someone like Grichuk which doesn't move the needle at all. I’m still thinking they have a hard on for Profar. Cheap. Steady…

They put this team together and right now it's a shit show. It might get better, but it's going to have to take a lot of people to get it together and I'm not sure they can. I look at it this way they are roughly 3-4 back of most of the teams they need to catch. They have at least 6 left against all of them and looking farther ahead 6 against the rays and only 3 against the orioles. So I think you gotta root for the rays to fall back more than the orioles. Anyway that is four teams and those games don't start till July 31 so judge should hopefully be able to play in all of them. There is more than enough there to make up ground but they need win pretty much almost all those series and even sweep some. In order to do this Judge needs some lineup protection and that's why they need a useful left handed left fielder that can win these "playoff type" games. I'm sure the Yankees see this but if they really believe they can win these head to heads and not make any moves that doesn't seem realistic. They need some big name here and hope that it lengthens the lineup and gets Rizzo and others to hit better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One team I worry about is Seattle. They've been inconsistent all year and have a similar record that the Yankees have just a game or two behind them.
If Ohtani is getting traded anywhere they have the pieces, location, and connection to the Japanese media. Therefore they prob could get him to agree to an extension with the trade.
That would easily be enough for them to make up the 5 or 6 games they need to and leap frog all of the Yankees Boston and Toronto.

He’s right, and that’s what he told his players in a clubhouse meeting that lasted just a few minutes.
Boone didn’t yell, but he was stern and to the point.
“He said some things that we needed to hear,” pitcher Carlos Rodon said after his awful 4 1/3-inning, six-run start that included blowing a kiss to a heckling Yankees fan.
Boone’s message?
“There definitely has to be a sense of urgency because we’re playing the worst we have all year,” catcher Kyle Higashioka said. “This is probably the lowest point, so we really have to kick it into gear. We all know that, but it’s good for a manager to reinforce that.”

Option 3 - Poor roster construction. The yankees are in a prolonged slump ! No hitting no pitching no manager Boone needs to go now ! Cashman needs to be told he is on the way out! Unless they turn the ship around ! George is turning in his grave watching these overpaid has beens Play worse then minor leaguers! The pitching is a joke After Cole what do they got? Why are Robertson, Evaldi & others doing so well with other teams? I dont get it The management is at fault Pitching & batting? What the hell is going on And thar dummy Boone , what a schmuck ?

I don't think that's a coincidence, they're gearing up to make a run at Ohtani.
