Earlier in the game, 28 year old Wes Wilson made his major league debut and homered for his first big league. All kinds of celebrating in Philly. Did you hear about the Trea Turner business? He signed a big long-term contract and has been playing far below his usual standard and was getting the Hicks/Donaldson treatment from the fans. Then last Friday a social media campaign was started to give Turner a standing ovation every at bat. He promptly started ripping the ball and even played better defense. He took out a billboard on Interstate 95 thanking the fans and now he's like their most popular player. Amazing, Philly fans usually hate everything.

One of the reporters that covers the Yankees minor leagues posted on Twitter this morning that Vazquez was well rested and could have made this start tonight. No excuse for this Sevy nonsense.

They veer wildly between love and hate, but it doesn't usually happen this quickly. I was watching the game Friday not knowing anything about the social media business. When he came up and everyone was cheering for no apparent reason, I thought he might have saved the life of a child earlier in the day. It was amazing to see.

The whole park doing the “Lorenzo Stomp”. Anyone else know what I’m referring to? … I think it’s just a Baltimore thing, not sure… Is it anything like the Bristol Stomp? I know nothing of the Bristol Stomp. I know you watched some Baltimore TV. One of the morning shows featured Royal Parker (a news broadcaster for the channel) dressed as a clown named Lorenzo. His dance was called the Lorenzo Stomp… Soo used it as a play on Lorenzen. Then as I began typing I realized it was a local reference…

This team is a train wreck and Cash should be sent packing for putting it together. A bunch of Zombies out there. I will give Tommy K props for showing any kind of emotion at all. How could Boone possibly think bringing Seve in at that point was a good idea? Send half these guys packing and start this over. The crazy thing is Hal has the money that it would not be that long until a competent baseball guy could get them past what Cash and Boone have here. Blow it up!

Unfortunately reports are Cash is here to stay no matter what.

This team needs every win they can get, but with DJ scratched from the lineup, instead of starting Volpe, they go with Cabrera.

Kenyan Middleton. I once worked with a vendor whose name was Richard Mikira. He was from Kenya. A very slight black fellow with a pleasant demeanor, after I knew him for a while he told me of a tradition for his tribe in which he partook. At the age of 13 he had to follow tradition and slay a lion to be declared a man. Impressive feat for a child of that age.
I later met another gentleman from Kenya and related that story. When he heard the name Makira his eyes lit up. He said there is a saying among the people of Kenya that says that if every Makira in the country that claimed to have slayed a lion had actually done so, there would be no lions left… 🤓

They were wondering why Three Finger Brown had that name when he really "only" lost his index finger. But his middle finger was badly mangled in the same farm machinery accident and was of limited use. He was basically pitching with his thumb, ring finger and pinky finger. It sure didn't hurt his pitching ability. He was a really great pitcher.
