It is my imagination or did players used to turn away from an inside pitch and not open up into it? Seems like a lost fundamental practice.

Anyone ever played Skubal? Is it closer to golf or bowling? I meant to add that Peter, Paul and Mary released a song called "Stewball" in 1963. I think of that song when Skubal's name flashes through my brain. It was ostensibly about a horse who drank wine, although I assume it was a metaphor for some deeper concept like drug use.

That absolutely does seem to be the case, although I hadn't thought of it. It bugs me that hitters turn their hands, face, and other delicate parts into a 97 mph projectile, instead of letting their back or butt take the brunt of the energy. Too many little bones in the hand and wrist. Similar to how so many catchers these days do not hide their throwing hand behind their leg when receiving a pitch to avoid foul balls.

Brito leaves so many pitches up in the zone, yet the effectiveness is there. What can he do if we get his mechanics straightened out?…
