Unless the Yankees are going to trade Stanton or designated him for assignment, I don't understand at all the Yankees being interested in signing Solar. Max, Stanton isn't going anywhere because of NTC in his contract. Unless he is totally terrible in the 2024 Yankees MLB Spring Training camp; the team would have to considering a move of a buyout of his contract or DFA him. If any MLB team is interested in him, they would have to see what kind of physical shape, he is in spring training camp. Clipper Along with the no-trade clause in Stanton's contract, he really likes New York and playing for the Yankees, and by all accounts is a great teammate and clubhouse guy. And, Cashman is not one to admit mistakes - look how long he hung on to Sanchez and then traded him rather than designating him for assignment, which led to taking on nearly 60 million dollars (with buyout) for a washed up Josh Donaldson. Stanton would have to ask to be traded, and that seems unlikely. And, athletes are the last ones to figure out when they cannot play anymore, so retiring and leaving money on the table is also a road not to be taken. Essentially, we have a 25 man roster and Stanton. Let's hope working on his flexibility and trimming down leads to a recoup of bat speed because last season he could not catch up to mistakes over the middle of the plate in excess of 90 mph.

Is Shota Imanga worth a shot? I didn't know much about him but here's a scouting report:
Here's his fangraphs projections:
He would likely command a Kodai Senga type deal at the 5 years/75 million range

Absolutely, especially with his command and array of pitches. He cannot be any worse than Rodan and Severino were last season, and he's going to be much more affordable than Yamamoto simply because of his age, the fewer number of years he will receive, and the absence of the hype machine that followed his fellow countryman.

First I'd check on Monty's interest in coming back and what the price tag would be. We know what we're getting with Montgomery.

MLB Trade rumors has his contract prediction at six years, 150 million and it'll probably be higher. I don't know. Seems a little pricey to me for a soon to be 31 year old who seems more suited to be a number 3. I like Monty but I don't know if he's worth it. I like Snell less though. And there aren't many other good options without giving up more prospects.

If I've got the checkbook, I'm signing at least two of Monty, Snell, and Imanaga. Every year, at least one of our starters goes down, and we just lost King, Vasquez, Severino, German, and Brito. Time to restock and all it costs is money. If the Dodgers can sign two players for over a billion dollars, the Yankees should be able to pony up enough cash to sign all three, as the years will be more reasonable. We need someone to be the long-man to replace King as the multiple innings eater from the bullpen. Let the competition begin!

The guy could be good, but he could also be an AJ Burnett as far as consistency goes, and he’s likely too set in his ways to adjust his repertoire by pitching more upstairs, etc…

"Imanaga’s arsenal is as deep as it is potent, highlighted by a high-carry four-seamer with over 20 inches of induced vertical break (IVB). The pitch cuts through the zone staying on plane and causing swings and misses over the top of barrels."

There is no better cure for poor pitch selection than getting your arse handed to you by guys that can hit a 475 feet or so a few times. I said arse for the ladies out there. <tips cap>…

I think 1st things first the Yankee should grab Giolito at a discount and take a chance on him rebounding as a 4th or 5th starter, innings eater with upside. Then they can turn their attention to Imanaga , Monty or Snell
I want nothing to do with Montas who was never a good pitcher outside of OAK coll

Buying a guy off his career year is rarely a good idea. I liked Monty and was mad as 'ell when our GM moved him for Bader. With that, I doubt Monty will continue to pitch at this level. You can't pay everyone $ 25M + for 6 years. I'd rather take a flyer on a couple of out of favor starte and wait for the season to unfold.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pretty decent pickup rather than losing Florial. Fastball 90-95 97t. Good 12-6 curve can get strikes on takes in zone and swings out. Change up at 80-81 will also get swing and miss. The fast ball has some arm side run but is mostly straight. Swing and miss up in the zone, but sometimes finds middle of the plate. Had worked a in relief though formerly a starter, and has recently been a swing man…RHP…
