Yankees Mailbag: Opening the prospect floodgates and rearranging the front office.
WE need to let go of ALL our FA’S this offseason except for IKF (unless Seve wants to take a cheap 1-year deal to re-prove himself). IKF has a great attitude plays all outfield positions and all infield positions plus C; except for 1B. Also, he is an emergency type P. He also has won a Golden Glove at 3B.
--My only FA signing would be Yamamoto.
Yankees gearing up to target elite Japanese pitcher in free agency.

… High Interest in Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Yankees Brass Attends No-Hitter
Yamamoto is expected to be posted by the Orix Buffaloes this winter, and the Yankees are clearly smitten. How smitten? General Manager Brian Cashman, Special Assistant Omar Minaya, and Pro Scouting Director Matt Daley all flew to Japan to personally witness Yamamoto’s recent no-hitter. Needless to say, it was a good night to be a scout; Yamamoto absolutely dazzled the Yankees’ brass.
The Stats Don’t Lie: Yamamoto’s Exceptional Season
So far in the current season, the 25-year-old has showcased some mind-boggling numbers. He holds a 1.34 ERA over 134 innings, with 102 hits, 20 earned runs, a mere two homers, and 137 strikeouts to his name. What’s more, by the season’s end, he will have pitched 150 innings for three straight years—a strong indicator of his durability and reliability, qualities the Yankees have been missing in recent acquisitions.
Elite Arsenal: What Yamamoto Could Bring to the Mound
If reliability is what the Yankees are after, Yamamoto could be their guy. His pitching arsenal is nothing short of spectacular, featuring a fastball that averages between 94-95 mph and tops out near 100 mph. He also commands a splitter, cutter, and curveball, creating a sequence of elite pitches that should transition well to MLB play.
--I would also test the trade market to see if I could get a decent return for DJ, Stanton, Rizzo, etc. They are getting too old while their performance is DOWN and injury prone comes with aging. If we keep them EXPECT the same/similar results from them as we got from them in 2023.
My DH would be Stanton (God I wish we could trade him) but the DH would be at times a rotation of players if Stanton hits below <.200>.
1B Would be Rizzo (but to be honest I like would trade him this offseason or midseason 2024). With back-up being DJ unless I traded him. If Rizzo and DJ are both gone, I would call up Chappy or TJ Rumfield to man 1B with Waldo as backup.
2B Would be Torres for now, but if he starts slipping backwards to the old Torres would trade him mid-season 2024 (I would than move Fox to 2B Peraza to SS and IKF to 3B.).
SS The Fox.
3B Peraza or SS if we trade Torres than IKF moves to 3B
I would have IKF and Waldo as back-ups for the left side of the infield.
RF would be Judge with time at DH (he also plays a great CF if needed).
CF Would be Dominguez with Florial as backup.
LF Would be either Pereira or Spencer or Florial with the other as back-up
I would also have Wells and one of Higgy or Trevino as C.
MY INITIAL ROTATION
--Cole ***
-- Yamamoto
--Rodon**
--Schmidt
--German (Yes, has some issues but when he is on = good pitcher)
--Cortes
BP and maybe other Starters
--King
--Brito
--Weissert
--kahnale
--Losaisage
--Holmes
--Ramirez
--Marinaccio
--Vasquez
--Thorpe
--Warren
--Abreu
--Gil
--Misiewicz
--Effross
--Trivino
--Hamiliton
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***Cole might opt out figuring that in 2024 and maybe in 2025 the Yanks will not to the WS and he isn’t getting any younger. He would be the PRIZE on the FA market.
**Roden = WE should have never signed him (like we never should have traded for Montas).

Yankees Reportedly Could Pursue Young Cardinals Outfielder; Could Move Happen?
Dylan Carlson 2023 numbers: 5HRs BA.219 27 RBI’s our youth is better.
WHY? We have for LF: Pereira, Florial, Waldo, IKF, Spencer and more down at the farm.
They just need proper coaching and ample playing time.
AND NO TO: www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/mlb-insider-makes-surprise-suggestion-about-yankees-what-will-club-do-this-offseason/ar-AA1gtCCi?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=e0aeb1b3a0574725879981c4a64ab8a0&ei=16
HE probably will not be pitching again until 2025.
… The New York Yankees will have some tough decisions to make this offseason.
New York has had a roller coaster of a season, to say the least, and when the offseason rolls around likely will be extremely active as the club looks to get back to the postseason in 2024. The Yankees could use another power bat in the lineup and also another starting pitcher.
One player that unsurprisingly would fit the Yankees' needs is Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. The 29-year-old -- although injured -- would certainly help the Yankees if New York was willing to pay what will likely be the largest contract in Major League Baseball history. Ohtani has been mentioned as a possible fit for the Yankees for years, but The Athletic's Jim Bowden currently has New York outside the top-10 favorites for Ohtani's services and instead, the Yankees are considered a surprise option for the star.
